Has anyone noticed the latest "backdoor" fee increase? The FVF was 25p plus VAT now it is 40p plus VAT.

Usual 10.8% commission plus VAT and then some daft other fees, pushes up the total overall commission on average to approx 17% . More if you sell overseas!

There are no new fees that I'm aware of.

And as it a percentage based, you can't really quote specific amounts, without actually detailing the selling price and category. As it's basically meaningless to be honest.

Which daft other fees are you talking about?

The fixed portion of the FVF was 30p + VAT. As of 12th February it is now 30p + VAT for orders that are £10.00 or less and 40p + VAT for orders that are over £10.00. Some other category-specific FVF changes were (quietly) announced as well.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Changes to the per-order fee structure was announced in the January Seller News (https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Announcements/Your-January-Seller-News-is-here/ba-p/7984899), though in typical eBay fashion it was hidden under the heading 'Trust and protection'. If you click on 'Read more' it takes you to https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/news/2026-january; Page Down, click on 'Changes to per-order fees' and you get https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/news/2026-january/rate-card-change where all the changes are detailed.

To play Devil's advocate, eBay would probably say that an announcement was made but it's up to sellers to read the monthly news bulletins. Personally I think changes to fee structures should be made far more transparent - an email detailing the actual changes is one obvious solution, rather than sneaking out changes which not everyone will read.

Then again, this is eBay. When have they been open and honest about anything?

Oops, forgot about that one. Though I must admit, I missed that in the way it was written. Still a bit mystified as to the "new" Daft other fees though.
