eBay Febuary 2025 changes for the worse many factors pointed out

eBay has made a complete hash of this months changes including these three aspects.

Not all categories have had the buyers fees applied.

The prices shown to the buyer on the app do inform anyone browsing of the fees however the website lacks this clarity.

Why has eBay decided to change prices set by seller, instead of leaving those alone and then displaying the with fee price and then again that with a reminder at the checkout.

This way buyers won't have to wonder about all the sudden random numbers appearing in search results and the item pages. I'm sure we all know numbers are psychological.

Add to this the sponsored banners above item page that claims to take buyers to relevant items from elsehwere on eBay, this takes eyes away from what you are selling to something it thinks has the same item.

It also seems a bad idea to have introduced so many changes in a relatively short space of time.

In just a few weeks, we've had the eBay Balance thing, the Fund holding until after delivery, & the Buyer Protection Fee. Simple Delivery has been around for a while, but is still causing a lot of uproar about whether it will/won't become compulsory. And we've had the new Messages format, which many of us are still struggling with.

Perhaps eBay think it is better to get a big dose of nasty medicine down in one go...?!

Hi i'm on website only 2 items affected so far knitting patterns. Above the title is Listing info inc BPF click on it and price £2.75 BPF 0.83p = £3.58. And yes funny really i have a banner which recently was sending people to a business selling things for hundreds of pounds

Ebay have put sellers through *bleep* over the last few years, but this is the worst. They want to make as much interest on our money. I need to check the legals again, but am sure this actually is a breach, firstly short notice, inconsistence in payments, no reason given. I always set my listings as dispatch within 2 days, i have never had an issue with buyers not receiving goods. Ebay need to revert to last payment process, since their split with paypal, we have had 3 payment changes, if all sellers stopped selling tomorrow, ebay would be no more. So if a rep wants to explained reasoning then confirm  they will revert back, and apologise for attempting a more Elon musk version of Vinted, unless this happens, we the community/people should show our power as sellers  and stop selling.

It's perfectly clear on Vinted.  Listings show the price the seller is charging, and in a different colour underneath, the price you pay with the Buyer Protection added.  Completely transparent, so the buyer can see what they're paying and where it's going and decide if the fee is acceptable to them.

Agreed, Vinted is also overtaking due to the transparency, and treat seller and buyer equal. Ebay is an example of how capitalism eats itself. 

CEO, you need to reverse this change and apologise to sellers

furthermore (sorry for going on, but I have a week till payday and my daughter and i reply on ebay salesto keep afloat)

This also doubles as an open letter to Ebay CEO and hierachy to inform them (short notice but with solid reason) that me the seller and buyer will be making changes within the next ...erm........week or so. This may involve me contacting my buyers directly and trading the old fashioned way. Calm down ebay, I offer buyer protection via your ex Paypal..........and bank, my sales will be swifter and with out fees. I really only sell on ebay under the illusion that ebay seemed a conveneient way to facilitate the process, the added silliness is never needed. I have the contacts from yeas of being a loyal and long suffering seller AND buyer. These changes will come into affect when ebay's new change impacts on my family ( I expect in the next 3-4 days), I will communicate this to my community (sellers and buyers) from now on, this is no breach of Ebay's mercurial policy. 

Ebay, can we talk or will I be closed down?

Paypal charges 30p + 3% per transaction i thought or it did when i last used it. Are they free now?

I'll double check, bank transfer is free so thats any protect option. Ebays protection is flimsy anyway

This yellow banner appear on Community link, they need to do more than monitor 

"eBay is monitoring potential changes to tariffs and will update the eBay community as additional information becomes available."

We should know it when it stands the cold light of day and not a act of malicious whimsy, but thats just my reaction to poor treatment as a buyer and seller by ebay

48 hours have passed, both item have confirm tracked delivery and positibe feedback and still i wait to get my money. Ebay is now scaming members and making extra money off us . CEO of Ebay, you are a theif if you allow this to continue. I have even raised the issue with local MP's as i would with an rogue companies, one of which as replied and is publishing on X lol.......this is going to explode .

 Iv not been a seller for long  but these changes are an absolute discrace that has made everything i sell look overpriced. now im not selling expensive stuff but to have 85p slapped on top of all my prices on top of what i pay ebay to promote my listings has killed them. i have not had a single sale this month so all i can do is reduce the price so well done ebay.
