collection only

Looking for some advice,

Sold a very rare expensive £500 pattern makers vice on a collection only due to weight 40kg.

Buyer purchased as soon as item listed, I have had no contact from buyer in 24hrs on how and when collecting, Problem being he is 200 miles away. My listing did not offer pick up courier .

Buyer has 1.6k feedback as a buyer and nothing untoward.

thanks

Good Morning David

I would advise you for all future and any current listings that require collection to add a paragraph to your description that reads  'Collection should be within 7 days of the auction end and at a mutually acceptable date and time.'

As regards the vice as it has only been 24 hours since you sold it give him more time ie 3/4 days.

Hope that this helps.

You could email them and say you need it collected by a certain date.   If they don't reply or don't collect by then you can cancel the transaction.   Or you can do that right away if you prefer.   I would give them a bit more time.  They may be trying to arrange the trip to collect.   But it's up to you.

If you decide to cancel go to the dropdown arrow alongside the item on your sold page > Cancel order > Something wrong with buyer's address (too far away to collect).    If they've paid the refund will be issued in the process. If they haven't paid you can do the above or cancel due to non-payment after 4 days.

And put their ID on your blocked bidder list:

If collection does end up getting arranged, don't forget that you need the collection code from the buyer to prove that they have their item. I wouldn't hand anything over without it.

If it was the " Emmert Patternmakers vice. 18in Jaws"

It shows as "This listing was ended by the seller on Thu, 14 Nov at 4:18 PM because the item is no longer available." in your completed listings as not sold.

All of your sold items sold yesterday say the same.

You ended the listing [as already said] less than a day ago - that means it was not sold through eBay.

OK, a 40kg item is understandably collection only.

If I were selling something like this then I would have to expect that the buyer will need time to organize how they will collect the item. Send them a polite message asking to agree collection arrangements if you like, mention that you expect collection in the next week. But I don't think you can expect instant communication.

Glad it's moving along ok.  I'm still in shock that any kind of vice can be worth 500 quid.  Admittedly mine are too useful to me to consider selling, so I suppose it's academic really.

Dread to think of cost of buying new. I purchased the vice at a local auction house, not seen one before or could find one sold so it was a bit of a punt. Paid good money for it but still a good profit

cheers
