I’m a new seller and it’s been frustrating😔, I listed an iPhone like 2 days ago and I don’t know if it’s because of my price it hasn’t sold yet, can you people help me check if my price is nice or I just leave it like that, a friend said it wouldn’t take 1-2 days before it sells and I’ve been waiting/refreshing my eBay since. Please can I get your help or advice.

For a new account to list a high value item such as an iPhone you are making yourself open to attract unscrupulous buyers, and many buyers would not purchase such a high priced item from a seller who has 0 feedback. I would perhaps purchase some items and sell a few cheaper items so you can build your credibility on eBay.
If this is because you need a quick sale/funds, eBay will hold your funds and they will not be released until a buyer has received their items(s) and left positive feedback.
Hope this helps, you could also read the " start selling" information on here.

Hate to be negative rico, but please *don't* sell an iPhone on ebay as a new seller.
You are a scam magnet.
😒

Thank you, can you please tell me what type of items I could start with? And what’s a unscrupulous buyers?

You are very lucky it hasn't sold. iPhones are the most likely items to attract scammers and there is a 99% chance that you could lose your phone and your money.
You also only have £1.99 postage on it and it will not be insured against loss or damage.
If a buyer opens a not as described case, you have to accept the return. If they send you an empty box back, then how will you prove that to Ebay? They will make you refund the money to the buyer.
Try selling face to face on marketplace. Ebay is not a safe place to sell phones ( or laptops etc).

I thought it was safe to sell on eBay cos my friend flip phones on eBay and he makes a lot on eBay that’s why I wanted to start doing the same

Don't be offended, I don't mean *you're* the scammer here!
I mean you will attract crooks who will 'buy' your iPhone and scam you out of your money by any of several means.
Ebay is very heavily biased towards buyer protection (to keep buyers buying! without that activity, ebay would not exist....) and will usually take the buyer's 'side' of a dispute over the seller's.
In that situation you will more than likely lose the phone and the money you got paid for it.

" unscrupulous buyer" - a buyer whose intention is not honourable , ie. ( as Lucy_Falmer has stated "scam") they are scam artists who consider purchasing a game to get something for free... by opening a case of item not received or item not as described...when they really have it in their possession and/or they return to you a parcel with a different product in it... thereby you lose the phone and your money!
There are plenty of posts on here to read which outline these " scams" so please reconsider.
As a registered private seller you can sell your personal items clothes, shoes, trinkets you no longer need, perhaps a new gifted unwanted item etc ...Cheaper items perhaps start them on auction so people can bid...Ensure you describe in full to prevent any " not as described claims" ... have a look at what others are selling and how they list them, so it can give you an idea. I would also refrain from using A.I.
Good luck.
Edit - spelling.

Search iPhone in the bar above. There are plenty of posts where the seller has been scammed.

Oh, I’m new here and didn’t know this but there isn’t a way to bypass this scammers?
14-12-2024 1:41 PM
So even if I put a no return policy or put a higher return postage fee on the product to prevent this scams it won’t still work?

eBay tend to fall on the side of the buyer - so unsure what you mean by a way to " bypass scammers" ...There have been well established sellers who have unfortunately fallen to these " scam artists"... to the point now many sellers ( particularly for valuable items) video and photograph the item and the packaging of such before posting, and send by trusted postal services with full insurance to try and protect themselves.
Ebays adverts of free to sell, and list it, sell it and make money are at best " misleading" as there can be many pitfalls particularly for the seller.
I would build your account first by selling and buying small items.
If like you said you want to " flip" phones like your friend... if this is meant as a future business and you are buying and holding stock you would need to register as a business

Higher postage won't do anything, when they open a not as described case you will have to refund in full as well as supply a postage label for them to return it. Iphones are a magnet for scam buyers, when they do return it you will get just an empty box. Putting no returns won't do anything as a claim for not as described will force you to pay return postage, if you refuse they get to keep the phone and get refunded in full inc postage paid by them

Can I still register as a business even after registering as a private seller?

'.....there isn’t a way to bypass this scammers?'
Not really, not on ebay......
You can use the correct and insured postage, brilliant packaging and be diligent about checking the buyer's address and info, so *should* be able to tell that the parcel has arrived in the right place.
But you can never ensure that the buyer doesn't try on a 'not as described' case and send you back something different (the old brick in a box gag).
Or try to buy from you using a fake 'payment page' .... etc, etc
Thing to remember about ebay, is never to put up for sale something you can't afford to lose.
14-12-2024 1:49 PM
Ok thank you I’ll just keep selling on marketplace if this is the case

I think you need to read eBay policies.
No returns will not deter the unscrupulous... they will open a case with eBay and you are then at Ebay's mercy.
EBay from early next year are apparently " managing" postal options, but in a simple answer No you cannot stipulate a higher return postage, it would not be " off-putting" anyhow, and the seller would need to pay for return postage too should the buyer claim not as described etc.

Yes, you can upgrade to business.

Good Afternoon Rico
If ever there was a 'lamb to the slaughter 'it's you and your phone. The scammers will be circling like hungry vultures, ready to swoop in any day now. Then it will be goodbye phone and money.
Build up your profile and status and get some selling experience before even thinking of selling high value items.
If your friend is so confident that the phone will sell quickly then get him to sell it for you.
