*breaking news - Simple Delivery* Changes to postage rates and delivery options

Last month, we shared that Simple Delivery will be the only delivery option available for private sellers when listing eligible items. We’ve been listening to your feedback whilst rolling out this change, and are introducing a new parcel size option and new postage rates for Simple Delivery, which will come into effect on 20 May, 2025. We’re also working on bringing you even more of the features you’ve requested, and we’re adding a lower-cost option this month where buyers can collect their orders from Evri parcel shops.

After listening to your feedback about the services that matter most to you, we’re introducing ‘0-2kg small’ parcel size options to provide you with a lower price point. We recommend reviewing and amending your live listings that use small or medium parcels from 20 May, to make sure you’re offering your buyers the best prices. For example, if you have a 1-2kg medium parcel, you can change this to a 0-2kg small parcel if the dimensions fit. You’ll be able to amend this from your Active Listings or View Item page. To get the most competitive prices, consider enabling all couriers by going to postage preferences  in your account settings.

Until the new rate comes in, there’s a promotional rate for small and medium parcels (between 0-2kg) to match the Royal Mail pricing you’re used to. This only applies to items that are eligible for Simple Delivery, and will end at 11:59pm on 19 May. After this, the new postage rates will apply.

To continue improving the Simple Delivery experience, we’re rolling out a collect from store option this month with Evri. This will be a cheaper, more convenient option for your buyers, where they can collect their items from the Evri parcel shop or locker of their choice, and save 15% or more on delivery costs.* If you’d like to offer this option to your buyers and have currently excluded Evri from your couriers, be sure to add them back in by going to your postage preferences .

We know that it’s important in some cases for you to be able to choose your preferred courier. As a reminder, you can easily set your postage preferences from your account settings. Currently, Simple Delivery offers services from both Royal Mail and Evri. We recommend enabling all couriers for the most competitive postage rates.

I hope you realise when you switch some off your listing to Simply Delivery you will not ba able recover any off your packing materials. Which I can image is quiet high as you send breakable items .

If I am reading the reading the Royal Mail rates correctly it appears cheaper to send a package that is between 1-2 kg  at £3.38 than to send a package of less than 1kg  at £3.64?  Is this correct?

I've been on eBay for over twenty years as a private seller and buyer, have over 2500 feedback on only two accounts, and I think this is the straw that broke etc.

I have stuck with eBay through various disasters they caused me, I went oin chat rooms to try and help them and to help oterhs over several years, but now I've had enough.  Gonna charity or kerbside all my stuff from now on, or landfill it.  Just wanted to break even, or get my junk re-used, save the planet.   Little profit wouldn't hurt, but not the be-all and end-all.  I didn't mind eBay charging fees, but now they want to take over virtually all my decisions.  Not gonna play along.  Hey ho.

RM & courier collection from home?

combined postage?

advertising free to sell on ebay, it is not & price points all look stupid now

advertising NEW simple delivery, is harder! ebay help advises that after arranging my postage, i then log on the RM site to book a free collection, easier or harder?

*breaking news - Simple Delivery* Changes to postage rates and delivery options

I kept a foot here while I could still list and opt out of SD, - Obey originally said it was compulsory from mid April, then late April and now 20th May - which I'm fairly sure will happen. Talk about falling on deaf ears !!!!!!

I've said before anyone who I sell some stamps to does NOT want a label - they want some stamps on the packet and of course that means Obey don't get their kick back off postage - so they will now lose another second wave of sellers. This will continue, filtering to the next wave of buyers - who can no longer find the choice OR the value at what are now OVER PRICED and EXPENSIVE items!

I will no longer be spending (have not done so for 2 months or so) with either private or business - so who's going to moaning next??

Meanwhile I've made in roads into Facebook, e bid and even Vinted - some may say 'but thats the same as Obey'. However its not, its the platform Obey copied, so the prices there are what they started at and have not all risen dramatically to allow for BPF and SD.

More importantly I'm watching listings appear on these sites that were not there in such abundance two months ago! Obey have not twigged they are now facing more competition from others who are taking their small private sellers and all those interesting little items that were once cheap. PLUS - I've made sales on all three, the latest of which was Vinted only yesterday and I've had little time to start bulk listing, so thanks Obey, I'm starting to live without you.

Give it time you'll see how maybe you should have listened to feedback and stopped talking B*LLS**T.

Will end the remaining listings when I've tested on 20th May and will also switch off notifications as to the carp that you keep trying to sell me that I was never interested in, in the first place!

It is ok for them to try and tempt sellers to use Evri parcelshops to drop off parcels . As a seller myself why would I offer this when I have a round trip off 15 miles when my local post office is just 10 minutes walk away . My local shop in my village has had a inpost locker which I am not able use because off the restriction they have put who we are able to use . Sellers have already not able to add the packing side off postage , so now they want me to start doing a round trip off 15 miles most days to what they feel is a benefit.  It is a shame they can not spend there time putting the damage right what Simply Delivery has caused like not being able to combine postage for inland or international delivery system unless you use GSP and we all that is away off lining Ebays pocket because off the price . Some sellers can not even send a combined invoice at the moment for international postage which means if you do not use GSP are not able post internationally . When this all kicked off buyers where promised postage rates off 20% less than what you could buy from the local post office . Postage prices maybe are lower but by the time you add VAT on top it is just the same .

I was simply confirming to someone that they didn't have to pick their parcel up from Evri when they were buying if they didn't want to...but OK.

I had a parcel picked up today and there’ll be another one tomorrow (not ebay), there was no collection charge. I thought that started last week?

Your not listening just more tweeking in the wrong direction.

JUST LET THE SELLERS CHOOSE THE DELIVERY OPTION THAT SUITS THEM.

After all we are doing the leg work, packing and sorting out a Postal method, if the buyer don't like it they will choose a different seller.

The discussions I've had with fellow Sellers we simply want to attach STAMPS, write an address, So no need for an expensive printer or replacement ink or to carry a smart phone.

Is this a change to the current postage rate on SD for something like vinyl LPs?

The SD price for that is £3.44 and a single LP weighs about 400g packed.

I booked for five to be picked up today via the Royal Mail app last night and it cost me £1.50 (5x30p).

It started May 1st for me.

Still not listening really are you?

Still charging £2.70 for large letters that go at £1.55 with RM. Scam, scam, scam,  that's all it is.

If there was somewhere in my village that I could drop off an Evri parcel I would allow both options, but when it would mean an 8 mile drive and 45mins to 1 hour per trip then it just isn't convenient.

If ebay had Evri pick up then that would be great.

Surely they could allow the se ller to pay an extra 30p/50p  (I think that's what Evri charge)  and select a pick up option.

It's almost a pound per parcel extra for collection:

*breaking news - Simple Delivery* Changes to postage rates and delivery options

I have thought about the fact that now postage costs will go directly to ebay and there is no option to include any packaging fees. However in the past we had to add on the ebay fees to the postage cost just to break even. So this will make it simpler.

At the moment I am only selecting Simple Delivery for items that are below 2kg.

Once a parcel goes over the magic 2kg then ebay are charging £10.55 (as explained before I only use RM) - whereas using the old system of buying postage from ebay the cost was just £6.80.

Luckily the packing cost of the small items is not great and I can either include a little extra in the price or make a little less.
