Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone
That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye
We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

'They plan to force sellers to use their simple delivery with corrupt
couriers taking a cut to make deliveries vanish.'
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Look, I know I've got my own theories (without any evidence, yes I know !) about why ebay are doing what they're doing....
But really?.. the 'corrupt courier' theory is a bit too far along the conspiracy route even for me 😂

Just been on to the 'Help' team agent regarding an item I sold last weekend, sent Monday with tracking uploaded, buyer either away or at work maybe so they re-routed item to a collection point. Tracking states it was delivered on Wednesday to the designated 'Collection Point' but not marked on eBay's system as delivered & funds still on hold as a result. Told the usual 14 day max release of funds in this event. All worked fine before, paid 10/12% sales fee & buyers paid the price sold with no 'Buyer Protection Fee' but now buyers pay more & eBay have imposed an ESCROW style system for sale funds. Agent says it makes refunds easier but they already have sellers bank details in the event of this.

I see a lot of Business Sellers trying to defend Ebay, nothing but a bunch of brown nosing *bleep* who are happy that private sellers could leave in their droves. They get truly rinsed by Ebay and don't realise it. It's business sellers who started this downfall in the first place IMO. Hopefully when their sales drop only then will they realise the importance of every member.
As someone who has been a member since 2000 I'm done with Ebay now. I just hope someone comes up with an alternative and gives people back the freedom to buy and sell as they wish whilst paying a small fee for the use of the platform. Ebay used to be fun to browse and buy, whereas now you can never feel comfortable with what Ebay are doing both as a buyer and a seller.

..... corrupt couriers .....
Not the best thing to post on an open public forum?
And you also infer collusion?
I realise in times of belt-tightning and change, "tempers" (if I may call it that) run high - but there is a limit.

first off i am both a business seller and i also have a private account
i am not defending ebay at all
in fact i find what ebay have done is appauling
i have been with ebay since the start
but the past 10 years since this new racime took over my sales have plumeted
ebay has more down time than up time you only have to check out www.downdetector.co.uk
a few years ago i did a ping test on ebay.co.uk
a ping test is like a radar it checks to see how fast you get a signal returned from the target
normally ebay if hosted from the uk you will get a return signal of approx 1-2 seconds
this time i checked it and it returned in just over 5-6 seconds
so i checked out ebay.co.uk and found out it was being run from new delhi india
ie thats where the ebay.co.uk servers are based
eventhought ebay are meant to use AWS amazon web services as a hosting company
("so please dont think the uk business sellers have got it easy
we have hard competition mainly from chinese warehouses based in the uk
all selling the exact same stuff as us only cheaper than we can buy it from the wholesale stockist in the uk
thing is they sell it for cheaper than i can buy it wholesale in the uk
if i buy from ebay that i sometimes do
i check the contact details of the seller
if they are based in the uk ill buy
if they are based in china i keep searching until i find a seller based in the uk
even if i have to buy for a little more
i voted for brexit because i feel we can survive and flourish and rise above the rest
but now ebay uk & ireland dont forget ireland is part of the EU
this is the way they punish us for leaving the EU
just making it harder for the english
and they have a preference for the big gun warehouse sellers from china
so please dont think the uk ebay bisiness seller has is easy
i will probably get punished by ebay for making this statment
please note i am an engager
and i refuse to lay down and let myself be shafted
22-02-2025 8:58 PM
nothing to do with corrupt couriers
i am a business seller as well as a private seller
i sell new parts from my business
and second hand parts from my private account
its just plain and simple greed putting the shareholders needs first
so ebay can gain the intrest off the sellers cash before they send the cash onto the seller
so they can gve the money to the shareholders
when we had paypal people used to sell stuff on ebay for quick cash
ie some people get into problems that they cannot get out of without cash so they sold something
now if they got to wait up to two weeks to get their money
well they might as well go and get a quick day loan
solves a problem
22-02-2025 9:00 PM
nothing to do with the couriers bruv
its all about money and keeping the shareholders happy
the longer ebay hold onto the money the more intrest they gain
plain and simple
22-02-2025 9:06 PM
Who thought of that statement "hold" on your funds ,this process helps keep the marketplace safe ? Are they having a laugh ? Any excuse for ebays poor service
22-02-2025 9:07 PM
22-02-2025 9:09 PM
I was with you until all the odd Brexit stuff re being punished. Please.
Seems like eBay is doing all that they can to hang onto sellers' money for 14 days no matter what the circumstances, with funds apparently not being released within 48 hours for Royal Mail tracked as delivered items to the GSP hub.
22-02-2025 9:19 PM
My comment was in response to another poster - not you.
its just plain and simple greed putting the shareholders needs first
And what business doesn't?
22-02-2025 9:29 PM
I can only imagine how much they lose from sellers doing a moonlight flit without dispatching goods. I’ve been on the receiving end of it as a buyer, the seller sold easily £20,000 of books in a week, I got fake tracking on a handful that I bought, their feedback dropped from 100% to 10% once buyers started flapping and leaving negs. eBay finally cottoned on and suspended the account. How many times does that happen on here and how much have eBay been done for?
Keeping the marketplace safe partly means keeping eBay safe from unscrupulous sellers. It is understandable from a business point of view.
I’m not defending everything with these changes, it hasn’t gone down well at all but maybe they were losing too much to scams under the eBay money back guarantee.
22-02-2025 9:42 PM
In all my years on eBay I've never used their postage label service, regardless of who they use as couriers, only ever used Royal Mail signed or 48 services. Obviously they're making something out of any alliance they have with a chosen delivery service but, are there benefits to be had by using their options rather than buying direct from RM or an alternative with getting funds released sooner ?
22-02-2025 10:09 PM
No i still buy from RM direct because they collect everything from me, Ebay postage only allow large letters and parcels. I tried to use their label and it said that the address was wrong so instead used RM online and there was no problem with the address at all

not the point the people in the uk are struggling as it is
wont be long before people start going back to barter town like it was before ebay
problem is now everybody needs hardcore cash
trust it wont be long when people start meeting up and bartering again
ebay will just disappear in a puff of smoke eve williams needs to be careful how far she pushes people
they will up and leave
many already have done some even formed platform to equal ebay
we the ebay private sellers need more freedom of what items we can sell
on ebay.com you can sell digital downloads they have done for many years
the uk we are not allowed to
i have a file server where i sell pdf car and motorcycle manuals in fact i have over 40k of them
i have to sell via payloadz because ebay.co.uk ill not let me sell them
so ebay.co.uk must be a franchise?
or it should comply to the same rules as the head office in the usa
23-02-2025 12:28 AM - edited 23-02-2025 12:30 AM
You can sell electronically delivered items - you are a business so I assume you have purchased the authority to sell digitally the 40k manuals - if so no problem as far as I can see selling on ebay UK using classified ad format ? Below is the UK policy
As a footnote Why would you want to sell these on a private account when you are an established business seller ?
Quote from you !
