Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone
That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye
We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

about time methinks.
now to hide under a rock as the abuse for this comment is likely to be brutal 😏
Well there have been a fair few complaining on these threads, although they still seem to think they are private sellers at the moment.

If you sell something to USA, its quite possible you'd get paid after 12-15 days ??.
Ebay sat on that money for that long time. WOW.

There aren't supposed to be any business sellers on this thread either, but it's full of those trading illegally on private accounts!

I won't be buying anymore from eBay after 4th February. I have never bought again from The Range after getting a parking ticket because of going over stay by 11 minutes and being heavily pregnant at the time, 8 years ago! Cost me £100. So I mean what I say! If I am able to continue to sell I will be withdrawing all the balance as soon as it is available, no matter what!

Do you buy or make to sell, or are you just selling unwanted personal possessions?
Those are the tests, not quantity or value.

I decided to contact Ebay customer services about this and (eventually) got a call back after having had one "silent" call from them. At first, the adviser implied that private sellers were happy about this change but then had to admit that they were having a lot of calls on this subject today (certainly there was a longer than usual wait for the call back). Obviously, nothing I can say is going to make any difference, but my concern was around suggestions that you would have to use Ebay's postage label service in order to get proof of delivery - I was assured that you could still purchase postage elsewhere and upload the tracking number. I only use tracking services now, anyway, and proof of postage means nothing to Ebay. I'm not sure why I would want to continue selling on Ebay when they seem to be doing everything to discourage private sellers - quite a change in ethos since they were first set up. It is beyond frustrating. Not sure if this makes sense, but I am seething!!

'How does a PRIVATE seller have 6 or 7 of the same item to sell and several hundred items listed.??
If I can spot "pretend" private sellers surely eBay can with all their AI computer technology running this platform.'
I've always wondered why 'privateer' sellers were apparently so difficult for ebay to spot.
It is fairly easy for ebay to spot contact details in messages (even well-buried details!) using AI/the bot.....so why not p**s taking sellers?

Of course they can - but they don't want to forfeit the profit gain. Plus it looks good for their shareholders.

Oddly enough I can't find a definition on Ebay of a private seller. The
business seller definition is clear and you have to be set up as a "proper"
business but nothing about what constitutes a private seller.

Agreed! What is really worrying me is that, as I read the email from Ebay,
they will automatically increase the price of stuff on sale to cover the
"buyer protection" (which of course buyers already have under consumer law)
BUT it is incorporated into the price and so buyers will simply think
prices have increased and that this is down to the seller.

I " simply" can not get on board with any of it...
Looking at the bigger picture this is not just about whether people can " WAIT" for their monies - they should not have too! M&S online don't wait for theirs ( I know not an auction marketplace, but lets just apply it to " corporate businesses" - do you think they would be on board? it would be a big fat NO!)
No-one should have to wait for their funds for their own sold items until confirmed delivery , or when ever eBay automation decides - that is actually putting your " transactions" in the hands of a third party confirmation ( and we all know how that can be)... And your items in the hands of buyers - may as well give them away. This is not about " safety" in fact anyone, whether it be eBay, Government etc who states " for your safety" raises an eyebrow or two from me!
I just don't know how I faired these past 17yrs let alone all the years I have LIVED on this planet..;-) - OUR " safety" on eBay, is now in jeopardy - why, how, and what changed?
" simply " speaking of " managed".... it is control and dictatorship by eBay and an absolute liberty!

Yes I thought that and was discussing this with my other half who only buys. He's had the same email so buyers will know money has been added on by ebay. For the people that don't read their emails however I suppose there are going to be ebay adverts. Must be cheaper to buy from Amazon going forward.

THere aren't meant to be any business sellers on Vinted at all. There is room for ambiguity here - not so there.

Oh fair enough thanks for the info.
