Every time I use Ebay it's more ridiculous than the time before.
I scheduled three auction listings to go live this evening. Each one has a starting price of £0.99, yet when I view the previews I see it says £1.75. Why does it ask for a starting price if it's going to make up its own?
Then, this 'simple' postage thing might be simple, but it's absurd. All three listings are for identically sized products with identical specs. I copied the last two listings from the first, so the details are the same, yet the first gave a postage cost of £3.71 and the other two, £4.27. I couldn't figure out why they were different. Then, when I looked an hour later the £3.71 value had changed to £4.27.
These aren't exactly huge issues, but why is Ebay changing information behind that scenes without informing their customers? If I had any trust in the system in the first place this kind of thing would cause me to lose it.

Well the first one is easy; ebay have added the BPF to your starting price.
Your second question is also easy: it's because Simple Delivery is boll**ks.

The change in item price is ebay's new buyer protection fee. Details here:

Buyer Protection, eh. Bizarre that the Buyer Protection fee should be added to the start price of an auction, being that it has no bearing on the final price. Still, no more bizarre than stating it's 99p on the schedule screen and £1.75 on the Preview screen. People who use this site daily must have the patience of saints.

I think I'm going to pull these listings. Checked them again and on one of them the Preview says, "Save £3.56 and get it fast. Collect this item in person for free." This is despite the Postage Only option being specified. Tired of Ebay now.

Many have already lost 'faith' in Obey, they've left and taken their listings with them and now list elsewhere on compettors auction sites where there are no buyers sales taxes. I've cancelled all mine and now only stay to check if they have come up with yet another set of changes - or just dig an even bigger hole for themselves

'Tired of Ebay now.'
That pretty much sums it up, in a nutshell.
I think many are feeling the same way... too many changes, too much hassle...

To release this standard of software in a controlled beta test would be reckless, but for someone to have deemed it worthy of release to millions is inexplicable.
