Who thought this one up?

Sorry but after a few years of selling at very reasonable prices I have withdrawn all my items due to this ridiculous 'Simple Delivery' malarkey. Does eBay want private sellers any more? From the comments on this forum it seems that people will drift away and eBay will only have themselves to blame. It's just poor greed by eBay.

If the item is less than 100g and under £10 you can still use your own delivery company or if they item is bulky i.e 30kg weight.

Please  can you point me to the section that ebay states that  you can use own delivery for under £10 and less that 100g. I read this and asked on another simple delivery post that is running and everyone says it has to be letter size. In the bit I read it doesn't mention a size. Just want to know for certain before I cancel all my auctions.

Both customer service agents and Kat from eBay on these boards have said it must fit into an envelope (didn’t say what size )

apparently we are to get another mass email in the next few days detailing exactly what are the SD exceptions

Some people will carry on selling on here. And Ebay may get new private sellers as those using Vinted are already used to Simple Delivery.

Private sellers like me believe that Simple Delivery should be given a chance before leaving. Let's face it, if I withdraw all my items then they will never sell!

Edit or create a new listing and set the weight as 100g and set the price as under £10 simple delivery will disappear.

How will ebay know an item fits inside an envelope and its under 100g ??

Some seller can just discribe it that way and missuse this claw.

It does make you wonder if EBay don’t want private sellers anymore but don’t they realise a lot of private sellers are also buyers. If I’m not using eBay to sell I’m unlikely to come on here to buy, I’ll more than likely go to the other website that begins with the letter A and ends with mazon. If they do end up chasing private sellers off they might find their profits dropping.

Of course for any long term private seller who has had years of arranging their own postage that they lose they could very well get a new private seller that has never used eBay before so don’t know any other way and just accept the Simple Delivery.
