When are people going to take responsibility for their own actions ?
recently we have had a couple of INR requests via ebay system..
In both cases the item has been shown as delivered via Royal mail tracking and upon checking the GPS and photo match buyers residence.
Case number one we had a buyer purchase a broken gaming laptop for parts value of said machine grade A working £800, value not working we listed at £150 sold for £100 so was fair price.
buyer paid tracking uploaded to ebay as per usual.. few days later email from buyer to state they did not have item but upon checking tracking was delivered photo shows buyers house front door car etc all match GPS spot on.
Told buyer i would check into it bang 5 mins later INR request with message in case stating how they were so upset and that they had even gone out and ordered spare parts to repair said machine.
RED flag straight away why would you order parts for a broken machine when you have not got it so could not have done any diagnosis or fault finding so why would you order parts ?
To clarify it comprises of screen (known good) motherboard (likely issue) ram on board gfx on board battery , keyboard ok therefore the only prts you would order would be hard disk or motherboard.
To order motherboard unlikely as would cost more than machine is worth and due to variations of models you would need correct part number to order it anyway and without machine you could not compare.
also why would you order a hdd if machine is not yet working ? so clearly this statement about ordering up parts prior to arriving is untrue!
Upon checking with RM insider it was confirmed delivered to correct GPS location and photos matched and guy at RM was 99% certain had been delivered to correct address.
At the end of ebay time out case was closed in our favour only for the buyer to claim he had not got it and decision revered and money taken from our account!
Upon ringing ebay this was reversed and we were covered due to tracing showing delivered however the buyer also kept the money at ebays expense.
Personally i am 99% certain this chancer was a scammer and was not his first rodeo and knew how to play the game for free stuff.
He also lied about speaking to postman as interview was apparently done and postman confirmed delivery to said address yet buyer said postman did not know about package. was correct postman as same postman on duty on said days.
The next case is a buyer claims INR yet admits was left on doorstep of their address (internal door of flats)
RM photo shows door with number with our package visible in pic and matching GPS pin.
buyer opened case stating was left on door step but had given instructions not to leave on doorstep.
Upon checking order details and any messages there were NO special instructions left for our despatch dept on order prior or post despatch from buyer.
So here is my point When are people going to take responsibility for their own actions or stupidity ?
How is it our fault if we do not know of any special instructions and item is delivered to correct address ?
and before anyone spouts the old "oo your the seller and you are responsible to make sure the buyer gets the item put into their own pinkies and until that moment everything is down to you" I don't want to hear it!
How is it the Postman's fault if he delivers to doorstep and buyer has no safe place designated and not left instructions ?
If the buyer lives in a crime ridden area maybe THEY should take some responsibility rather than just allowing stuff to be taken from their doorstep inside a closed building, that is even if it was taken which i doubt is likely another chancer on the prowl for free ebay goodies!
How dare the buyer bleat and moan at us when we have done things by the book and THEY cannot be bothered to be at home or make arrangements with RM (ie keepsafe) designate safe area etc) insted they just let the parcels flow to their address and then claim at will.
This is everything wrong with the world today PEOPLE WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS and is always somebody else's fault!
Rant over!

They won't! The site has made it easy for scam-bugs to play the system. And with the new Not-So-Simple-Delivery it will only get worse cos eBay states:
12. Liability for Loss or Damage.
You remain responsible for any loss or damage to your item until it has been scanned into the carrier’s network. Once your item has been scanned into the carrier’s network and providing you used the Simple Delivery label and are compliant with these Terms and eBay’s Policies, as well as the relevant Carrier Terms, your item will be covered for loss or damage during transit up to the sold item value on the eBay.co.uk site. This means you will retain your sales proceeds in relation to the item sent using the Simple Delivery label. The item will be in transit from the point it has been scanned into the carrier’s network until it has been marked as delivered by the carrier. For the avoidance of doubt, your item will not be covered for loss or damage during transit if you have acted fraudulently.

I reckon eBay are gonna be forking out quite a lot more when unscrupulous folk discover the loopholes and grab with big handfuls.
And I bet your buyer in the flat uses that excuse on multiple occasions! Report and block. eBay will have to deal with the loss.
