What to do when a 'Simple Delivery' parcel sent through Evri doesn't get delivered ?

Hi.  I'm a private seller and recently sold an item for approx £30, and sent it using the eBay 'Simple Delivery' process via Evro to the buyer's Evri locker in Birmingham, UK.  Looking at the tracking information, the item appears to have been going round in circles between 'Entered The Evri Network', 'On Its Way To The Parcelshop', and 'At The Customers Local Depot'.  The buyer has contacted me advising they haven't received it and feerful they'll miss the item if it ever arrives as they are going abroad next week.  At the buyer's request I've phoned Evri automated system where I logged the fact it hadn't yet arrived  - the system didn't say how long it would take for them to look into it and get back to me (I suspect that I won't hear anything meaningful back from them).  I've tried looking at the eBay information pages re what to do if the item isn't delivered but it all seems pretty unclear.  Can anyone advise:

1. In the event I don't get a sensible answer from Evri, is it me or the buyer who has to raise the matter with eBay, how long do we have to wait to do so, and how should that be done ?

2. If the item is delivered to the buyer's Evri locker when they are abroad, and they miss the 3 day window to collect the item,  I presume the item will eventually wind it's way through the Evri system and be returned to me.  What happens then re eBay for the buyer and me as the seller ?

All advice gratefully received.

One the due date has passed, the buyer can open an item not received case. As it's SD ebay should refund the buyer straight away, you keep the money they paid,  and hopefully one of you will eventually get the item.
