Utter frustration of E bay

I refuse to give my bank account details to E bay, I will not allow them to withdraw money from it in the event of a buyer dispute where they always find in favour of the buyer even when wrong!

I have e mailed FOUR times to close my account but they harassed me because I had withheld funds they stopped! I didn’t post the item and told the buyer E bay had her money and not me!

I even told them personally on the phone and was told a bank account was the only way to get my withheld payment. I told them again to close my account!

thier charges on buyer protection are stupid and finally killed E bay!

if E bay follow this…….  CLOSE MY ACCOUNT AND LEAVE ME ALONE!

Without your bank details, how do you expect eBay to pay you?

Your account will not be closed until all outstanding fees are paid and there is no likelihood of transaction cases arising ---

See Closing account  link/option  here --- using a PC/Laptop is recommended --->

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

I was using PayPal and didn’t realise bank account was compulsory, to be clear I had informed E bay I would not give them access to my bank account several times.

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

You knew, or should have known, e-Bay's rules before you listed anything for sale.  If they weren't acceptable to you you shouldn't have done it.

All you can do now is wait a while before closing your account, if you still wish to cut your nose off to spite your face.

In the days when e-Bay didn't have your bank details they'd still have pursued you for any money you owed them by other means, such as debt collectors.  At least settling-up by Direct Debit means you only pay what you owe, rather than that amount plus recovery costs, and not get your credit record messed-up.  Again you agreed to all this by listing an item for sale.

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

You can get away without a bank as a buyer, but the moment you sell anything it becomes mandatory, this is the unfortunate reality of eBay these days.

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

I really don't understand why you don't want want to give out bank details to Ebay (just me, I don't let that sort of thing worry me) but it is very easy to open a new bank account online in minutes. Do that, give it to ebay, get your money, shut it down or keep it empty for future occasions when companies want some bank details.

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

Good idea but it's best to stick to a well-known bank as people have reported problems with some of the new and/or internet only ones.

I used to use an old account I didn't use for anything else but stopped as I realised that a company can't take money by Direct Debit without notifying you first — if they somehow do the bank is liable — so you have time to instruct the bank to refuse the payment or cancel the DD completely.  Obviously if you did you'd still be in debt and have the same problems as I detailed above.

Dad, welcome to the forum! Just kidding. It still only takes minutes to open any of the big bank accounts. I should know, i've stooged them all.

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

A friend of mine sold a watch, sent it to the buyer insured and signed for, they said it don’t arrive even though he had a proof of receipt signature.
They found in favour of the BUYER and took the £400+ out of his bank and refunded the buyer!
That’s not going to happen to me.

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

The opening of a new bank account is not that simple I’m afraid, having just changed my bank I know the hoops you have to jump through.

As I said to someone else a friend of mine sent an item , insured and signed for delivery but the buyer said he did not receive it even though proof of delivery signature was sent to E bay.
They refunded the buyer the £400+ !!! Do you still think I should give them access to my account?

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

No, not really. You don't get the money until delivery has been confirmed in most cases now. If delivery didn't happen it's not your money anyway and a claim is made from the carrier.

If you don't want to sell on Ebay, thats your choice.

Re: Utter frustration of E bay

Pay attention! I didn’t post it because E bay was withholding my payments!

Yes it is my choice isn’t it!
