Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

I’m a member for 14 years - I have today complained fiercely to EBay with regards to 4% + 75p charge on each item purchased as we all know this is a Back Door way of recovering the Seller Fees which were scrapped recently - Buyers already have adequate protection - as to payment 2 days after delivery - we’re at the mercy of Royal Mail to scan all  items when collected (not guaranteed) 😡

Fellow  members I urge you to let your disproval known - SHAME ON YOU Ebay😡😡

If some people seem think this conversation is about how great it is for them as a business seller that private sellers will now be charged fees you're clearly not reading the room or the original post.

You have clearly not read the ebay policy, or the member's posts that you are replying to!

Private sellers will not now be charged fees, however some members are spinning it.  The fees will be charged to buyers.

You are clearly here to troll us all.

So, tell us then why you believe you're such an expert on everything? Even more of an expert than eBay and moneyquids?

Re: Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

I am an 'expert' because I do my own research, read up on the law, and check ebay policies.  In other words I take the time to check that what I say is correct.

What do you do?

I am not more of an expert than ebay, I am somewhat of an expert on ebay, and I have nothing to do with 'moneyquids'.

I am not a troll, do you even know what that means?

Oh, I see. We've just got to take your word for it. And apparently your interpretations have more authority than eBay or moneyquids and other experts.

Back to the lady's original conversation, now please resist constantly witch hunting private sellers.

Re: Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

It’s such a pity that these useful discussions always seem to get hijacked by people with personal gripes and axes to grind.
Going off topic doesn’t help at all as it only irritates and annoys.

If you have a different issue why not start a new thread where you can argue and bicker with like minded people?

I have read the original post. I have read all the other posts - apart from the ones I now skip who are from posters with nothing to say about the subject.

I don't need to 'read the room'.
I'm now going to read my book, which is more entertaining.

Yes you do have to take my word for it.

You seem to think that I post things at odds with ebay's policies (I disregard 'moneyquids'), and 'other experts'.  I am not sure what ebay policies you think I am odds with.

If you disagree could you please identify my posts where I have got something legally or technically wrong, and link it to the correct answer?

I do not witch hunt particular 'private' sellers, but I will continue to post about the issues caused by the ones that break the rules and the law.  That's Consumer Law by the way, I have no idea whether they are breaking tax law.

Re: Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

At the end of the day the best solution is if you don't want to do business with any potential tax dodgers don't come to eBay at all because the company's based in Ireland or wherever it is deliberately abroad just like Amazon and the rest.

End of story. Goodnight, Godbless.

EBay Inc is an American corporation and the ultimate parent company of Ebay (UK) Ltd.   UK members enter into agreements with Ebay (UK) Ltd, which is based in the UK, files accounts in the UK, and pays tax in the UK.

That's what a bit of research and fact checking gets you.

Re: Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

Personally I don't bicker with like minded people as I usually agree with them.  I 'bicker' with those who write nonsense and I do so in an effort to make sure that nonsense doesn't get mistaken as the truth by members.

The subject matter here is the buyer protection fee, the issue is that if sellers are properly registered as businesses there won't be any such fees charged.

It is @stimpson_jc who keeps going off topic with stuff about 'moneyquids', and personal attacks.

Re: Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

Vinted got rid of their forums a while ago...... Where Vinted go Ebay follow, so it seems. But as Vinted don't differentiate between private and business perhaps they found people had nothing to post about.

Please let at least one thread be available for sellers trying to navigate the new systems and fees.

Re: Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

email from eBay.png

Well, if we do anything wrong mr papso, rest assured we'll say this is what we got in our emails.

If you think that's incorrect then please take it up with eBay themselves and remind them about your expert credentials -like you do research 'n' stuff.

Re: Upcoming ‘Buyer Protection Fees’

You are contradicting yourself you were on about someone making their own items to sell in a few posts back and that they are allowed to make a few £100 a week as a private seller where as the business sellers policy clearly states that someone who buys or makes an item to sell should register as a business.

Someone selling a collection they have is totally different.

An eBay seller must register as a business if, for example, they sell items they have bought to resell, they make items in order to sell them, or if they buy items for their business.
