So now we have to endure a tax of 76% on items we list, and maybe sell, for £1. How can this be justified? How will we ever sell items at £1 each whilst this inequitable tax is levied?

You will make such a sale if a buyer really needs/wants the item. I bought such an item yesterday - I really really wanted it so the BPF wasn't of concern or interest. Indeed, I searched eBay and it was the only one available, so I couldn't buy it fast enough.

But of course it's not knowing which items they're going to be!

I've also, long before BPF became a gleam in some evil eye, bid (and won) auctions that bundled something I really wanted in with things I didn't want (or thought I didn't want at the time). Maybe bundling is worth a consider?

Use another selling platform?

Well, you won't. And it's very unfair.

Collector Sellers like you (lots of second hand collectables) have been caught in the crossfire.

Ebay's reasons for the changes are;

1.  The buyer's fee (your 'inequitable tax') is to try and replace some of the money they're losing by getting rid of sellers fees for private sellers.

They wanted selling to be 'free', so they could attract new sellers and compete with Vin Ted (which is also 'free' to sell on)

2. The payment holds have two reasons for existing ; to make interest on your money whilst they hang on to it. *And* to make it awkward and unweildy to run a small business whilst having to wait so long for your dosh, because.....

3. Ebay are trying to get under-the-radar business sellers (i.e. trading on a private account) to register on business accounts.

Ebay want the under-the-radar sellers to change because business sellers pay sellers fees. (and soon, for HMRC finance disclosure related reasons, ebay don't want to be seen as encouraging sellers to break UK Consumer Law; even though 'encouraging' them is what they've been doing for years...)

4. Ebay have decided they no longer want the site to be 'cluttered up' with 'low value sales'. So yeah, stuff listed for a quid.  😒

that is what it all boils down to now, does someone really want the item and prepared to spend the extra.  Most of what i buy on here is specifics and i have usually looked in the shops or on Amazon and then come here.    Last week i was looking for a specific type of pen, could not find it in my local shops, then i tried Amazon and then on to here.  Plenty of them on here and bought one, probably paid more than i would have if they had been available in the supermarket but they were not.  Might add they arrived the following day, impressed!  Same with clothes except i usually miss out the shops because i cannot be bothered wandering around, much better on here looking for a specific item.  Bought an item yesterday even with the BPF.

Glad you got just the pen you wanted, and fast.

It's great when things come together like that.

TAX what tax or do you mean a FEE, think seller fees that you don't pay anymore and switch it to buyers fee, so ebay are now in much the same place they were before although its the buyer paying the fee not you.

They could have an amazon account so just pulling stock from there it is an option for account sellers on amazon.
