A buyer bought a brand new bikini bottom with tags hygiene Strip in situ and sealed. Ebay kept item cost including postage. Postage was deducted from my cleared funds.
Item posted delivered, buyer didn't open just decided to send back reason don't like.
I was notified that a return I turned was being returned buyer noted I just don't like it, they got a full refund I lost 2.94 original shipping. The return was auto processing.... I spent 4 hrs on the phone with ebay could not get a straight answer. We agreed I wasn't in the wrong but should not accept returns at all as a private seller as not covered for window shopping or anything else. Happy selling 😱

All you can do is block the buyer. I don't really see how they get free returns for saying they don't like it, but just be glad that they didn't cut a hole in it and claim a return that way.

That's a good point, at least my item was returned unopened, i can put at on another platform and sell for cost if I am lucky.

Do you state no return if the hygiene strip is removed? That seems acceptable, even expected. Commercial firms as policy don't accept such returns and some, like Next, don't allow returns at all unless the item's faulty, to reassure buyers about hygiene (as policy only, as there's no law or regulation prohibiting such returns).
If you state that you don't accept returns if the hygiene strip is removed, it might assure a potential buyer that the hygiene strip would be intact. Though it's be hard how you as seller can be certain a buyer returning it hasn't removed it before you receive it back to check it for yourself. Are you able to state no returns at all, unless faulty?

If it was the black bikini bottoms you had 14 day returns on that listing so your buyer was entitled to return the item for any reason. Sellers have to refund all the money the buyer paid, including postage.
Lots of people complain that eBay's terms and conditions are 'unfair' but they are what you agree to if you sell on the site.

ebay fairly and correctly refunded the buyer the money paid to you including the delivery postage.
This is because ebay are enforcing the MBG and ebay expect you to comply with UK consumer law.
I suggest you read through the ebay safety centre information which clearly and succinctly explains what you as a trader are expected to do on ebay and what your buyers are entitled to expect on ebay and what ebay will do to make ebay a safe place for buyers.
In particular read the ebay section What if you change your mind
You cannot avoid ebay's enforcement of the MBG or UK consumer law on ebay even if you are an unregistered business on ebay !
