I have been answering a lot of questions from a potential buyer with zero feedback, eventually they sent me a message saying "can I buy it around £45", I replied that they must bid or make an offer via the Ebay item page, my message and all subsequent ones to that person appear to now be blocked with the message from ebay "It appears your message contains contact or payment information which is not allowed under our Member-to-member contact policy. For the safety of our users, we require all communication and all payments remain on the eBay platform." Puzzled as at no time have I included contact or payment information to deal outside Ebay.
Sounds like a coding fault with Ebay....... Any thoughts?

I think possibly the buyer tried to send *you* his phone number, and he's the one been blocked!
If it was your message that was the problem, I'm pretty sure you would have been able to send other messages without 'dodgy' information? At least that's been my experience...
Has the potential buyer sent you any more messages or was that the last you heard from them?

Doesn't really matter what the reason is. This buyer is trouble in waiting. Go to help and find the 'block bidder' page, add to your list and ensure the "can't message me" checkbox is ticked.

I picked an earlier message they had sent me via Ebay and managed to tell them what was happening and that they should use ebay only. There was nothing in my messages to indicate wanting to deal outside Ebay however It looks like their "£45" offer tripped it, unless of course another message to me was blocked. It is a early-ish digital compact camera and they always seem to attract zero feedback bidders, often students, who have no idea about how Ebay works and often non payers.......

If you would be happy with the offer of £45 you could change the price on the ebay site and then send a message saying you would accept £45 but that the price will revert to the original if they don't purchase by a certain period of time. If they buy all well and good but if not just change the price back.

The point is I can't send a message to them they are blocked......... this wasn't about accepting an offer it was about eBay blocking any message from me to them because they thought there was an attempt to trade outside ebay which on my part there wasn't.

Zero feedback, making offers outside of the listing (without actually saying how much they're offering)... if they hadn't already been blocked I'd be blocking them myself.
