Hello,
An item sold that has been listed for almost 2 years ( so it predates the Simple Delivery system).
I can't use the prepaid label because it exceeds the maximum parcel size AND weight.
"Larger or heavier packages will still be accepted by the carrier, as long as they’re within the maximum limit – up to 2.00 kg and 45 x 35 x 16 cm."

Just had a phone call with eBay support.
If anyone else in the future has the same question, this is what they have suggested:
1) Get the label and copy the buyers postal address from it (since the address is no longer visible on the order page until you do).
2) Buy the correct postage from your courier outside of eBay.
3) Update the tracking number on the order and drop a reassuring courtesy message to the buyer explaining why they have two tracking numbers.
4) Use this form to request a refund for the prepaid label that you can't use.

DHL has now been added which accepts items up to 30 kg, did you miss out the 0 in your post above, is your item over 30kg not 3 kg?
If so,
or from the link below, another workaround is offered:

There are 2 workarounds which hopefully still work:

Please read my post properly.
I am not trying to list something, it has already been sold.

I did read your question properly, thanks for the reprimand!
Your item should have been automatically change to Simple Delivery last month, there is no opt out any more, was this not done? Simple Delivery is mandatory for all items no matter when listed, for Private sellers.
With Simple Delivery there is an infuriating issue that SD labels cannot be issued for oversize items like yours, so peeps are using the 2 workarounds I offered above.
Just recently eBay changed the max from 20kg to 30 kg but the carrier here is DHL. It still doesn't help many sellers, like yourself.
You need to try those workarounds and if they don't work, use your own postage and carrier and add the tracking into the order details.

The limits maximum limits are:—
40cm x 40cm x 40cm and 3kg is within all of them (except Evri drop-off lockers) so just use the label with which you've been provided and all will be well.
These limits apply if you didn't over-rule the e-Bay Recommended size/weight, which you obviously didn't as it was changed automatically. The "up to 2.00 kg and 45 x 35 x 16 cm" would apply if you'd chosen Small Parcel against the Recommendation.

Yes, Simple Delivery is the only option for me now.
The issue is that because the listing was created without a size/weight, it seems to have defaulted to Small Parcel and I cannot find any way of changing this. I need to change it to Medium Parcel.
The links you provide show how to get around it while creating a listing, but I need to do it to one that has already sold. If you could talk me through how to edit the details of a sold listing that would be much appreciated.

I never specified or followed any recommendations on size/weight or shipping options during the listing creation, the listing predates the Simple Delivery system. Before that, you only needed these specifics when you were creating your shipping label through Packlink.

Aaah, ok what's best to do now a bit of a faff, would be one of 2 things.
Either cancel the order with the buyer's permission , then you receive no defect, select ' Buyer Requests to Cancel', send the buyer a message explaining what's happening, that there was an issue with the new method of listing items for sale , resulting in incorrect postage and size of item.
You can then relist with the correct weight / size whatever needed to receive the correct label.
Or, buy over the counter postage at your PO, and enter the new tracking details manually, you may need a laptop /PC and use Chrome, that works well with eBay and proceed this way :
