US Tariff Chaos - Can Ebay Help Sellers

Good Morning All,

Just logging the worry that the chaos caused by US Tariff confusion poses a huge risk to sellers and the platform as a whole.

The current Royal Mail cessation of shipping to America continues and there is no clear info as when they will get a new system in place. For our part we sell Postcards (theoretically exempt still) which we can only send economically via royal mail ( GSP or global couriers are prohibitively expensive  ) so currently we can only cancel orders bound for the Americas (They won't even ship to south America it seems) there is no news or clear guidance from any party involved.

Given the platform seem to take great delight in sanctioning sellers and rejecting appeals for faults / late deliveries (even when its clear the seller has behaved in the correct manner throughout)  I fear for the ramifications of this mess.

Anyone had any insight or conversations with ebay that may help.

I never knew fishing lures could be so expensive till I looked at your listings, gad its a hobby I've never took up. Do you have buyers buying multiples? Just then it might work out ok if you were to set up a bundle listing and ship via GSP, I know it doesn't cost that much more if you are shipping a small parcel (shoe box size), granted the additional charges are now a joke but the standard postage if only a couple of quid more and I predict if you want a certain 'rare' lure you wont mind paying a couple quid more. I find the additional benefits of GSP outweigh the few sales I'd lose for the extra charge.

Hello Again,

So after much digging I have found a current list of how much the Tariff would be on Product of Orgin.....it is NOT a pretty sight but may help many of us navigate things and to decide to selling and ship to the USA or not. The biggest are as follows:

Brazil - 50%

India - 50%

Canada - 35% Some things are on Free Trade Agreement

China - 30%

Mexico - 25%

Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Vietnam - 20%

Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand - 19%

Afghanistan, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan and a number of others - 15%

There is a large list for 10%

If you go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5ypxnnyg7jo it has a fully detailed list that was updated on 06 August 2025

Hope this helps some....at least we can give worst case scenario to customers

Yes 10% as long as the country of origin (made in) is the UK.  EU is 15% other countries even worse.

I note that another check box has appeared when creating a new listing.  Have never seen this one before.

[  ] Display your listing on eBay US and Canada site — fees apply.

Its a 25p charge.

I assume its charged for listing not selling.

"I assume its charged for listing not selling." - Correct

Don't forget that the charge will apply each time your auction or Buy it Now listing renews.

I have used this option sparingly for as long as I can remember.  It is only available in certain categories.

Well no... But nobody is sure

It seems the buyer should be paying it and Royal Mail have some deal with the US government whereby they collect it from the seller and pay it to the US revenue service. Has so many obvious holes which is why it keeps being delayed

This is nothing to do with tariffs; it is a enhanced visibility feature that has been on the site for as long as I can remember.
