I understand that if the Simple Delivery postage label supplied by eBay does not cover the ACTUAL and REAL postage cost than the sender / buyer has 2 options.
Either the sender pays the difference at the counter or the Post Office will forward said package / parcel but the receiver at the other end will have to pay a surcharge.
If eBay have arranged a deal with Royal Mail ?? it will not include transactions at Post Office Counters. Staff have to balance their transactions at the end of the day and Simple Delivery labels are expected to cause problems.
It is increasingly becoming obvious that eBay has not really thought about what they are insisting will happen with their new rules ie Simple Delivery, Buyer Protection Fee etc. Yes I use the word INSIST … they are offering no choice or suggestion.

They obviously didn't include the counter staff and local post masters in the discussion, who by reports, are refusing shonky postage stickers on mass!

Amazing. Combine that with reports of sellers about being unable to use evri drop-off points because the bags are full....

If, as a buyer, I have to pay a fee (surcharge) for the item to be delivered, that doesn't bode well for any future purchase - in other words, no further purchases.
And if I refuse delivery, does that mean eBay decides that the item has actually been delivered and I might not get the item but lose my money as well?
Is it now unsafe to buy on eBay?

hi
yes ebay by using for privet Simple Delivery, Buyer Protection Fee etc. if we increase to cover cost of postage like packaging tape, box extra and add ebay buyer protection fee to your listing price then you push your self out of market price. also it you go to royal mail size of box and weight more than that ebay charge you need to pay extra!! ebay by introducing fee sale charge now make pore money on protection fee and deal on postage cost. I think ebay do not want privet seller any more

'I think ebay do not want privet seller any more'

Well, one of the reasons that ebay have brought in all these (IMO) stupid changes is because they really don't want a particular sort of private seller.
That sort are businesses trading as private sellers.
Genuine private sellers are people selling off the contents of their lofts, garages or wardrobes etc.
I don't wish to be rude, but these sellers are unlikely to have names like '1st-idealgoods4U'.
If you don't want to have to deal with all the new rules, you can avoid them by registering as a business seller. You would have to pay fees, but at least you'd be legal.

"That sort are businesses trading as private sellers."
That excuse has worn so thin that most everyone can see through by now.
It's the equivalent of the authorities finding one seller at a boot fair who is trading so their over re-action is to close down the whole fair although every other seller is blameless.
Most businesses trading as private sellers are doing it to avoid ebay's sky-high fees but the majority will be compliant with HMRC. So ebay's restrictions on EVERY PRIVATE SELLER will do hardly anything to deter them. Holding their cash, they'll get around it. BPF, they understand it's neutral within Free to Sell and reduce prices. SD, do whatever ebay demands. Buyers can soak-up ebays inflated delivery charges and the crooks will still be better off.
ONLY innocent genuine private sellers are being hit by these restrictions.

I believe ALL private sellers are being hurt by these restrictions. We've heard plenty of pained groaning from many psuedo-private sellers....
Ebay are using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
(That's why I called them 'stupid' changes)

You have been around these boards for a long time now. You know that the contents of your post no 7 above are simply not true. That may be how you would like to see it, but that doesn't make it true.
I shouldn't need to explain it to you again, as you know perfectly well, but it is not only the tax aspect which matters. Business sellers, as you know, are legally required to display their contact details on any listings, and are also legally required to have a compliant returns policy. These are the points which eBay could act upon, if they so wished. The tax issue is a red herring, again, as you well know.
Yes, it would be preferable if eBay would only target those individuals, but they have decided to punish all private sellers for the sins of a minority of law-breakers.

Hello theelench … with reference to some of the replies you have received to your posting.
Remember some “don’t listen to what they hear, they only hear what they want to hear”.

I have no idea why you would throw around such an accusation, instead of politely enquiring whether that seller is buying to sell, or having a clear out, or disposing of their collection, or even (I hope not) has had a death in the family.
Oh, of course I know why. It's because that's just not the way some folk roll around here. And when it's shown they've trolled an innocent private seller, they never ever crawl back and make an apology. Not even a half apology like "I'm sorry you were upset".
It's easy really. Just reserve half your bile for the sellers who are listing thousands of brand new items in multiple quantities. They're not hard to find. At least, not hard unless you're ebay staff apparently. The other half? That's for the perpetrator of the fundamental cause of all this, ebay itself, by setting the fee structure for business sellers in such an outrageously unbalanced fashion. If it weren't for that, there'd be little reason for such private sellers to register incorrectly except for ignorance and they could be informed. Politely.

Hand on heart time - do you think that once ebay get a slight sniff of a profit from SD, the next step will be to extend it to business?
A Community Manager only said they didnt have any plans for it up to period 2 this year.

and some people just do not like the truth! The biggest complainers on these boards are by far the pseudo private sellers and they do not like it when they are called out.
