At present I use RM's Click and Collect. Very convenient for me. And it means ebay don't know when I dispatch earlier than they expect (my buyers do, because I message them) and so they don't use their 'algorithm' to screw over my EDDs.
Does 'Simple Delivery' mean I'm going to be forced to use ebay for postage?

@johnwash1 according the the info page on Simple Delivery you can toggle it off as an option when creating your listing.

I hope not I think you can opt out of simple delivery . As I get my mail collected from my door via Royal Mail. I don't trust Evri at all. As they lost loads of mine in one day.

I dont know what Simple Delivery is, but like you, I use the click and drop service....BUT.....if its an overseas or large item, I check out Parcel2Go and Evri as they are far cheaper. I dont trust Evri with overseas as they damaged and lost another of my items. The buyers wanted to be able to collect their items at their convenience but with Evri they dont have that so it ends up being logged as lost.

Thanks, I hope it remains optional. And I must go check that account option regularly (I assume I don't have to toggle it off every time if I set it off by default). Past experience tells me ebay is not averse to quietly turning on such options.
We live in interesting times.

I have just reaad the new e mail from e bay and must admit it had me pondering. Looking further i believe that the opt out for it will have to be done on every listing. Why they just cannot do a simple opt out in the postage preference section i do not know (probably a good reason but who knows). I will be opting out because i only use RM and if the buyer is not happy with that then the answer is they do not buy from me, just like i will never buy from anyone who uses EVRI. One thing that does bother me, is that i would not be surprised if they make it mandatory in the future, that would be the line in the sand for me. I notice in their blurb they go on about all the advantages by using packlink etc etc and yet i have seen plenty of negative remarks about packlink on these threads.

@johnwash1 hmm take a look at the link and about halfway down there is an opt in/opt out FAQ, it doesn't actually state there's a default.
Probably best to ensure it's toggled off on each listing.
Not sure if you create a template or draft it will stay as created!

I havent come across the opt out bit yet but guess I will later today...but I have noticed that if you click on a listing to sell yourself, you can only click on 'Global Shipping Programme' which charges loads to the buyer, so I now only sell to the UK unless I click sell similar on one of my existing ads.

Thanks for that link, Jo. Packlink? Oh no, never ever ever. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, ... Sorry ebay, but you're not going to recruit me to scummy Packlink. I'm still amazed that all the threads, over years, some running to thousands of postings, haven't completely killed off the use of Packlink.
I never use templates because I'm listing a wide variety of things. But I do always use drafts, because I list on the desktop, all but the photos, then switch to the app to complete.

I can't even find an option for simple delivery. I'm really hoping I can still buy RM QR codes via eBay?

You can buy them at https://send.royalmail.com/ , no need to get ebay involved.

Cheers. Just made a sale, all happened as it usually does. I was able to buy the QR straight from eBay, I prefer to do it this way as everything is automatic, if the buyer puts in the wrong address they can't change it and blame me ha! Ps the price is also the same so really no point going direct. 😊

Simple Delivery is currently only available to Private Sellers selling in the clothing category and the only carrier option at present is Evri.
It will eventually be expanded to other categories and it is possible that other delivery services will be added. However, Royal Mail is unlikely at present as Simple Delivery uses Packlink and, although Packlink does provide Royal Mail services outside of eBay, Royal Mail currently has a separate agreement with eBay.
Packlink and Evri definitely don't have the best of reputations but it should be noted that one important advantage of Simple Delivery is that sellers are fully covered in the event of loss or damage during transit:
Items are protected against loss or damage from the moment they are scanned into the carrier's delivery network until they are marked as delivered by the carrier. In the event that a buyer raises a claim for an issue that occurs during transit, you'll not be held responsible.
No, there is no cover limit within Simple Delivery for eligible items; they are fully protected for the amount they sold for on eBay. To ensure this complete coverage:

I also dislike Evri and never use them [as a seller], but if eBay will be covering all loss and damages and that doesn't leave the seller out of pocket then whats the harm in using them? Actually makes them safer then Royal Mail Tracked, considering once posted whether the package arrives or not is no concern of yours - eBay bear all responsibility?....

It seems to be being brought in gradually, based on item catagory. So it could be months before you see it. Already in for clothing?
I will NOT be using it.

depends on where you live! As the local courier picks and chooses where he delivers and houses off the beaten track are a no no for him we never get a delivery. None of us buy from anyone using EVRI but unfortunately some people say one method of despatch and send by EVRI. RM deliver every day regardless so yes, i will be going with them still. I think customers may not agree with your attitude about not caring whether the item arrives or not!

I hope in future this doesn't turn into where private sellers would be forced to purchase postage labels from ebay ??
How can that even legally be possible ??
With ebay one never knows.

Hi, I use RM collection service as I have a lot of fragile items to sell and most POs in my area have closed, leaving the only survivor to drop to some distance away and with ridiculously long queues. Ebay say Simple Delivery will be applied to existing listings so I've looked at my active listings and drafts and cannot see anywhere how to switch it off. Does anyone know how to do this please or have I got to recreate all my exisiting listings and drafts from scratch. Am I missing something?! Thanks for any insight.

It currently only applies to items sold in the clothing category but will eventually be expanded to other categories.
Opt out is on a listing by listing basis:
Yes, you can opt out of Simple Delivery when you’re creating the listing.
