Hello … Does anyone know for definite the answer to the following ?

If I sell an item which weighs under 100g and I need to post off in a Jiffy bag (therefore Large letter Post) can I use Royal Mail postage stamps ?.

Also when does this apply from, 7th or 14th April ?

Thanks in advance.

It is being applied gradually, so we can't give a definite answer. It's not supposed to be starting until tomorrow, but post #55 on this thread suggests it has already started.

https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/Simple-Delivery-Exceptions-size-still-not-clarified/t...

That post also suggests your package will not be exempt from SD, once it comes into effect.

Right now (14:15) your items are still showing standard postage, but that could change anytime.

If your item sells under SD, you can use stamps if you like, but you won't receive anything to cover postage - eBay gets that.

One of mine on my private account eBay stated it was a letter when actually was a parcel and cost £4.50 to send

“What we’ve got here is failure to communicate.”

Can I have a link to where it states that please as Ebay only mention 'letter' not 'large letter'.

eve.williams@ebay.com

says that it must be under 100g and under a tenner to be exempt from SD, she also said an envelope but no sizes.

Now an envelope is just a piece of paper which is folded and glued together and I have plenty of A4 sized envelopes but there has been no official mention of the size permitted.

I am not sure, but I think that in the USA they count a jiffy bag as being an envelope.

Sadly, it appears large letters are NOT exempt from SD.

Here's a screenshot of a sale of mine from today (eBay have already started applying SD to some of my listings.)

I have not selected SD on any listings, and this item sold for £6.49 plus 98p BPF, so definitely under a tenner.

The screenshot also shows the weight was under 100g and the dimensions were large letter size.

Simple Delivery was imposed, although I was rather hoping it wouldn't have been..

It would of only cost the buyer £1.55 plus packaging for which you received nothing.  Ebay should refund a percentage for packaging.

I see no mention of 'large letter' in the link you provided.

What is see is :-

This includes letter-sized items that meet both of the following criteria: they weigh up to 100 grams and are priced at a maximum of £10, excluding buyer fees'

Please can you copy and paste where it says large letter?

This is what ebay says about this.

"There are a few categories of items where we’ll still permit untracked services if that’s your preference. This includes letter-sized items that meet both of the following criteria: they weigh up to 100 grams and are priced at a maximum of £10, excluding buyer fees."

It doesn't say that SD won't be applied. It says that they'll permit other postage methods 'if that's your preference'. I don't know how you'd let them know that was your preference if they're just applying SD to all listings. And they don't say how big a letter-sized item is.

Agree, it's the size that I need confirmation on. I can sell items under £10.00 Inc BPF that weigh under 100g but they don't fit in a 'normal' letter size envelope, they have to go in a 'large letter' size envelope.

I'm know I'm not the only person that requires clarification.

Come on Ebay......... Give us the answer.

I still don't know how their AI will know which of my £2.99 DVDs are over 100g, and which are under, even if LL is included???

This is gonna be a mess. Probably pulling my listings before midnight tonight and wait on the forum posts.
