I list a few things on ebay occasionally, but this new simple delivery is just rubbish for sellers. It assumes that ebay actually know the size and weight of items And that everyone can easily get to Evri or other courier services easily. Why did they have to stop the seller from deciding how to post items? Put me right off bothering to use Ebay.

Yes that’s a point because one thing vinted market themselves as is a used goods platform (cheaper for people, great for environment etc)

I sold item but i went to post office to have it weigh and the right size for sending and paid why i was there.
Now i can not change mark as dispatch or include tracking number to buyer will i get my payment because it looks like i still have the item . ebay needs to change back so we have the power to edit the details in a few minutes.
not this pre pay label rule .

I was very wary of Simple Delivery, but it is working well for me. I have to declare the weight and size category of the item at the time of listing, then just print out the postage label from eBay. Costs are slightly higher, but far more convenient than manually copying over the name, address, phone number and email from the eBay invoice into the Royal Mail website, then paying for the postage.
I have also just had my first ever return request, which has been almost faultless and automated in eBay, the buyer said the item was broken in transit and sent some photos, and I instantly got a refund due to the selected delivery option including insurance. Lol, the item had actually sold for far more than I expected / it was worth so both buyer and seller are happy!
Also don't forget that until recently eBay was charging a final value fee of roughly 15% on private seller auctions, this was then dropped and subsequently the buyer protection fee and simple delivery have been added (with costs incurred, just in a different way), the only pain is that unless you are meticulous, withb the BPF added auctions all start at weird amounts!

The only other thing I would add is that the invoice now shows VAT, which is somewhat confusing as it is the VAT that eBay is charging on postage, not VAT on the item itself.

Todays (1st) "simple" postage issue:
Buyer wins 3 of my auctions.
Simple postage wont let me combine shipping.
So I have to refund the buyer, 2x out f the 3 shipping cost they've already paid.
Went alright but realised:
I have paid the 1x shipping cost from money ebay hold until 2 days after its been delivered (abroad).
Okay I've had to acept this BS.
But the kick in the teeth is when the postal refund x2 that I've sent the buyer, come out of my funds, and not the pending funds from the actual sale.
So while I wait to be paid for my foreign order, I'm actually out of pocket for the 2x postal costs I've had to refund, until 48 hours after the order arrives.
So I carry the financial burdon of the mistakes of a multinational company ebay, whilst they hold onto the cash from my sale.
When we are forced into this situation, the funds for the refund, should come out of the the pending total, not my cleared funds.
This is simply drop jaw stuff. Ebay could not care less about us sellers, launching this unfinished buggy new system on us is beyond the pale.
Sellers now are just an unavoidable annoyance to ebay, and they treeat us as such.
Remember when altavista used to be the worlds favourite search engine you crooks?
Your time is coming.

Wow. It gets worse. As bove, SD is a complete robbery. Now my buyers get charged VAT on postage that doesn't bear VAT when a stamp is bought (or maybe it is, but then the buyer pays the tax twice!). This morning, when trying to dispatch order, the 'get label' system tells me that "Royal Mail is experiencing issues - please try later". Issues? Are they having children, or kittens or what? Is It RM causing the trouble? Can I believe eBay on this? Is RM hissed off with eBay? What's the truth here? And if I wasn't forced, arm-up-my-back to use their *bleep*py 'Not-so-simple' service, my (cheaper) stamp on the envelope would have the goods winging their way the the buyer right now.
I'm warning you eBay, you lumbering giant bunch of idiots, that I and thousands of others are on the edge. Or maybe that's your half-brained plan......

I honestly don’t understand who came up with this “delivery service” or “simple delivery service” idea. I sell a few low-cost items priced around £3–£4, which could easily be sent via Royal Mail 2nd Class for a maximum of £1.55. Yet I have no option to list with this postage method. Now the shipping ends up costing more than the item itself!! it’s ridiculous.

You’d think eBay would know what a massive problem it’s become (or started with) they must be reading these forums every day and every single day 99% of posts are about SD disasters difficulties frustrations and lack of intelligent info or instruction around it ,and not a peep from them to do anything about it no wonder people are getting seriously p I s s e d off
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Maybe it is not the massive problem you think it is. Those of us who are quite happy using SD aren't bothering to post about it, it is only the very small percentage of (private) sellers who have issues.

I am happy with sd when it works and it’s cheaper (though it does not allow for packaging and other costs which doesn’t affect me personally I recycle everything but it does for many )
which is only with small or medium parcels or for large letters where people want them to be tracked, they don’t all need to be
it does NOT work with larger or heavier parcels or smaller letter sized items or rather I should say eBay is not allowing custom postage for those when it says it does
my comment was about ebays postage system malfunctioning in general
not simple not smooth running and frankly over 4 months from launch it’s still got “teething problems” must tell them well yes, there IS a problem bigger than a tooth
Maybe by xmas things might be ok ?
Maybe when you decide to flog your next item that’s not eligible for SD and find out you can’t you might be added to the small minority of people complain about it ??
oh I forgot
theres a dozen courier companies or more I don’t know in the uk and eBay limits people to 1 plus Royal Mail
strange constriction imho when many people don’t have evri near them but have many other points

It has worked fine for me with larger parcels. I listed something last week that was 90cm long and Ebay automatically made it custom shipping, that item sold and has been shipped with no problems.
As for all the different courier companies , I only ever use Royal Mail and Evri so no problems here and I actually think it is easier as a seller not having to drop items off at potentially over a dozen places.

Then you’re one of the lucky ones
If it automatically came up for you
Try listing a dining chair
90 x 50 40
large letter is recommend by eBay 🤣 though they do allow you to chose small or medium parcel
No custom option visible
There’s hundreds of posts around the forum with all the difficulties people encounter
The systems very disjointed for wont of a better word
I don’t slag them off for fun

eBay is just a selling platform like any other however it’s now acting like a school headmaster who insists parents buy stationery from the school shop, books from the school, uniforms from the school – and probably wants to pick which barber cuts their kids’ hair too. Unbelievably nosy Parker, eBay.
