Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

If you can only offer Royal Mail (because Evri drop off is a 16 mile round trip) the price for a small parcel goes up to £3.75 for 1kg and £4.25 for up to 2kg. As you say, with making adjustments to prices because of buyer protection it is eating into the price some more.
And certain postcodes like mine can't offer express so I can no longer offer 1st class royal mail.

'We are GREAT Britain, not Apathetic Britain.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
☹️sorry, I'm on the apathetic bench here.
We have 'signed' our consent to ebay, to do basically whatever they want with *their* site , even though the items on it are *ours*.
(you don't have to sign anything, you don't even 'tick a box' to give ebay permission; the T's and C's are written in a way that , just using ebay, assumes we have agreed to everything)
Ebay have been falling down my estimation very quickly recently, but I'm still fairly certain all their T's and C's have been crawled all over by Very Expensive lawyers to make sure they won't get sued.....

Contracts are not law, they are just contracts.
The extended warranties that Dixons Group all used to sell all had contracts that were signed by the buyers.
Didn't make them legal.
That's why they were eventually punished.
You see similar nearly every week in the news.
A slum landlord getting successfully sued by tenants. Fairly certain they would have had contracts too.

I'm fairly certain that Microsoft lost an "unfair competition" law suit in the past. It's the law that contractual terms have to be fair. If somebody thinks they're not fair (in this case, the CMA), then ebay could certainly have a judgement against it.
I'm in the throes of getting all my facts together and will be writing to the CMA tomorrow. I've nothing to lose.
It particularly gets up my nose that ebay thinks we're so STUPID that they can get away with calling it "Simple" and saying that it will be better for us. Companies treat their customers as imbeciles at their peril.

'Why stay with a company that you clearly don’t like due to their dubious and sneaky rules that are so long they would even bore a solicitor?'

Staying?..... I have no listings up anymore and haven't sold anything since December.

This simple delivery seems to be the biggest simple rip off there has ever been seen. An example I stopped using EVRI 3 years ago as they are the most useless courier I have ever come across. I have used Royal Mail for 3 years mostly sending small parcels between 1kg and 2kg weight by tracked 48. No issues whatsoever its been a good service and on the two occasions RM lost post they settled my claims promptly.
So my question is this a small 2kg parcel sent by EVRI 48 hour outside of Not so simple delivery is £4.60 or £5.59 if you require collection, these are online bought prices. The Royal Mail equivalent online price with free collection Tracked 48 up to 2kg is £3.39.
So my question is this, what price will Not so simple delivery charge for a 2kg small parcel with collection. Will it be £3.39 or less that RM Charge or the Evri £5.59 charge? Or without collection £4.60 Evri or £3.39 RM?
Or will we all be ripped off with higher postage charges that you cannot opt out of.
Either way my long relationship with Ebay is ending, I will shortly stop selling on Ebay and I no longer buy off ebay. I dont like being forced into options I am not happy with.

If they didn’t they would just not accept private sellers registering or keeping their accounts
I doubt they would sign up these contracts with royal mail and evri and implement a new postage policy which is giving them hassle and a bad reputation just for that goal
the hmrc thing can’t be hard to adhere to, it’s just whizing off numbers to them
nah, it’s just a c*** up
i dont think eBay are spending enough or hiring the right people to run the site
but that’s just me and what I think in my little brain

The other day I managed to find the matrix of postage costs for Evri/RM/both, but I've looked all over ebay's info pages now and it seems to be well hidden. Does anyone know if ebay's prices take account of the Royal Mail increases from Monday 7th, or will ebay be taking the opportunity for a quick update their SD prices?

The current prices don't take account of the Royal Mail price increases. Ebay hasn't said whether they will be raising their prices as a result.

Thanks for that, sml192. It will be interesting to see whether ebay put their prices up to take account of the RM increases on Monday - and whether they tell their customers about it, or just do it.

What is disgusting and an absolute rip off by Ebay is the small parcel charge between 1kg and 2kg. Royal Mail online price with free collection is £3.39, a service that I have been using for the last 3 plus years. The new not so simple rip off ebay price still sent via Royal Mail is £4.27 more if you opt for collection. This is absolutely disgusting, you can guarantee ebay will not be giving RM £4.27. If they force me to pay this charge on my listings then immediately I will cease them.
