Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

You need to open a return request and then select 'Arrived damaged' from the list of reasons. Ebay should then refund you at no cost to the seller and there will be no need to a actually return the item.

Do I set up a return and then choose 'damaged in transit' option?

I have found it thanks.

It seems it's compulsory now and it won't let me choose the delivery option I want, which is Royal Mail
What do I do?

That is in your account settings - postage preferences.

tressy girl posted that in March ALOT has gone on since whilst eBay figure out simple delivery themselves!! And they still haven’t finished and there’s quite a few some major problems with it
in any case your items aren’t eligibke for custom delivery (the ones you have on at the moment anyway) so it’s simple delivery only
for small parcels it’s 3.38 RM which isn’t bad at all, cheaper by a few pence than nTM direct but you don’t get to add your packaging costs …eBay say to add them to the item price
you can remove evri by going to your postage preferences and deleting it

Using a PC, if you prepare a listing of something less than £10 and less than 1 kg large letter and it does not show the custom delivery options, save it as a draft. Open the draft listing and add post as normal.

They are but their hedging their bets

Hi! Custom postage option is not available on website version eBay.... at least since 6/7, I didn't see it. I have an issue of this Simple Delivery as it will generate shipping label automatically and deduct the shipping fee from sales money .... if the buyer buys 2 items separately in 2 orders, then 2 shipping labels will be generated but ONE parcel will be sent..... very awful!!

this. They should reactivate mark as dispatched to overcome this.
If the buyer pays for the postage and that label is not used then yes, it's automatically refunded after 30 days.
If the seller pays for the postage, and the label is not used, the seller must manually cancel that label for their refund, and do so within 14 days.

That’s a bit kafkaesque for wont of a better word
dyou mean all this SD mess is on purpose?
no private sellers is going to open a business account and pay loads of money to flog their stuff just so they can avoid simple delivery , which seems to be working for normal parcels
its the tiny items and huge items that have not been sorted out , don’t know why it’s taking them so long
If it comes to it they will just go flog it elsewhere

I don't think they are interested in what people think and I've been told my their "customer agents" that SD is the only option but then follow it up by saying it's not applicable to business accounts, having told me that trying to get rid of private sellers is not their aim!!
I've spoken to an "agent" online three times now about elements of this and they just just have a playbook in front of them to provide stock answers, although I've noticed the spelling and grammar gets worse when you ask them questions, and the pauses get longer, so probably trawling through their "corporate" list of excuses and reasons before answering!
Bring cynical, maybe the "agents" are getting fed up having to answer complaints all the time, but we all know that making SD an option would solve this!

they have decided things must go tracked even when it’s ridiculous /unnecessary ie cheap light items
why?
Because they can then not pay you for a while , rule being 2 days after delivery confirmation when it should be instant on confirmation, earning interest on the money I guess
before they paid you instantly on the order date
its 100% to do with eBay making more money for themselves which is fine , whatever, but NOT at the expense of the energy or money of others due to malfunctioning systems when he are exactly that as they are not working according to ebays own statements of what should be working
they do let off people with light small cheap items but you have to jump through a hundred hoops at the moment to enable that permission ie custom postage may as well be labelled catch me if you can
or the scarlet pimpernel, seek him here seek him ther that damn elusive pimpernel
🙄🤣
But yes, why not have both custom and SD as a choice
it would be better all around probably

Having a similar problem here but in reverse. No simple delivery option for a watch @£75. Certainly more than £10 and bigger than a letter. Awaiting a response after raising the issue with an agent who has opened a case with technical. Oh, have several handbags as draft listings also with no option for simple delivery. SD was working well for me until I tried to list the watch. They should be over the teething issues by now!!

I have listed 3 items the same size and weight, but different values, eBay has calculated 3 different postage charges why?

There are different prices for items up to £100 and items over £100 but that would only result in 2 different prices not 3.

The postage will depend on what package size is clicked on
are you sure they re all the same?
@ Sml192 if it’s the three the op has on they’re all over £100
