Simple Delivery

Good morning everyone.  Well tgat didn’t last long From  15th April SIMPLE DELIVERY will be MANDATORY.  I am sure most if you will have received the email.  I am far from happy and fed up with being dictated to.  His do we cover packaging ?  I have already dropped the price of my items as tge buyer is having to pay more because of buyer protection fee.  They will be telling us we have to purchase their mailing bags , boxes and bubble wrap next.

Re: Simple Delivery

I'm selling items that fit in a standard envelope and cost £0.85 to post. Now I'll have to pay £2.70 to post because my typical customer won't! Sorry but ebay are dictating themselves out of business.

Re: Simple Delivery

In the email it said there are a few exceptions, one of them was low cost items

so maybe …hmm not sure, it isn’t clear what they mean

Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery.

Re: Simple Delivery

Does that mean items that are low cost and bulky, or items  that are low cost and items that are bulky.

Clear as mud as usual!

Re: Simple Delivery

Yes the email came a day early, 31st March not 1st April. This is a retrospective move when selling low priced low weight items like postage stamps. I have accumulated many 1st Class stamps to post items so from the 15th April I won't be able to use them, I will have to print their overpriced lables. I have another account at eBid so it looks like a full transition from greedy, crazy, hate private sellers eBay to private seller friendly eBid. It is a pity as I have been selling on eBay for 15 years (and purchasing since the early 2000's) so like many eBay have lost a another "loyal" member.

You need a comma in this sentence since you have two independent clauses.

Re: Simple Delivery

Well the presence of a comma in between 'low cost' and 'bulky' would  grammatically indicate that they form part of a list (with 'local pick-up being the last item in that list) and so they are separate items.....but hey this is Ebay and we now that normal rules don't apply....

Re: Simple Delivery

Or that the item was low cost as well as bulky as well as local pick-up only.

Specific details would be helpful, or is the intention to be vague?

As usual the intention is obviously to be as vague as humanly possible

Re: Simple Delivery

I am absolutely furious having just had email from eBay (31/3/25).

unless this is an April Fool joke a day early, EVERY METHOD EXCEPT (their own) SIMPLE DELIVERY  has been axed and “simple” delivery is now the ONLY way to send:

A few days ago we noticed that all postage methods on the app had disappeared except theirs and during a long chat with the robots that run eBay we were assured it was a “glitch that several customers had experienced and it is not an experience we wish for our loyal customers and that the IT teams were on to it”

Not fixed over the weekend and then this email appears showing the utter contempt they have for sellers and buyers and changing everything to their favour, whilst lying directly to us about there being a fault.

Surely this can’t be legal to make people buy their postage?

Seriously, is there any class lawsuit we can bring against them for stopping all

our options?

What business is it of theirs what postage we choose to use?

What about those that don’t have printers or gadgets able to scan these stupid codes?

Why is eBay so appalling now as it used to be excellent?

Are all members going to put up with their dictatorship and carry on or are we all going to go elsewhere?

They have every seller and buyer now completely under their control to dictate how we operate and decide whether we will get our sales paid out or if they will keep it under some new amazing law they will introduce to say you have signed away everything.

Last week it was demanding our NI numbers for the greedy taxman and now this. If I had known they were going to punish and dictate to us all further then I would have kept my NI number to

myself as I will no longer be using eBay when this “law” kicks in.
I am
absolutely sick to my stomach what they have done and really hope everyone has the sense to not accept this and leave.
DO NOT GIVE GREEDY EBAY ANY MORE CHANCE TO SCAM US, as they will next dictate what packaging we have to use, that only they can provide, how and when we take our parcels to the postal venue. The list goes on with everything they are demanding. All take and no give.

The quote direct from their dictatorship email today:

“Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery”

This is absolutely outrageous as I support my local post office buying stamps and now that has been removed they will close. This is the final nail in the coffin for eBay as they have removed EVERYTHING in buyers and sellers favour, all for themselves. They now control every aspect of buying and selling so it’s all on their terms.

I am shocked, horrified, disgusted and can’t believe they will get away with this.

Unfortunately they will continue and not go bust because there will always be people out there who think eBay is fantastic. It is no longer any good for anyone, except themselves.

GREED, GREED, GREED and I urge everyone to go elsewhere.
Do not allow this to happen, close your account and make things on OUR terms for once so that they have to beg us to return.

Their taking and dictatorship is only just beginning. RUN FAST EVERYONE.

Re: Simple Delivery

Nah pick a day when everyone takes down their listings. Say April 16th then that should get their attention. But getting millions of private sellers to agree to that would need effort.

Biggest problem these days is apathy.

Re: Simple Delivery

Could not have put it better. Having to wait now for payment when they
already have the money. They say we can use the funds to pay postage but
then take all postage from cleared funds not the items that have cleared -
ALL POSTAGE. I was expecting a payout on the Friday from cleared items but
bought postage labels for other items which were going out on the Friday
and would not clear for another week and they took the postage money for
those too. I ended up with nothing. I think they have over stepped the
mark this time.

Re: Simple Delivery

All it takes for dictatorship to flourish is for good people to do nothing. It only needs one person to take a stand and others to follow and then things change.
Everyone should take their listings down the same day- great idea. Are you going to, or one of the apathetic ones you mention?
I will be going and using auction houses in future.
Who’s with me or is everyone happy to be ruled, without compromise, like this?

Absolutely. Are you going to leave and be a sensible one or another sheep that follows the dictatorship law? We MUST take a stand on this NOW.

Re: Simple Delivery

Their greed knows no limits:

  • Buyer Protection Fee – a total lie, they are just pocketing the money
  • Holding private sellers money - earning interest/investing
  • Simple Delivery - once mandatory ebay will make money on every postage label for every item sold
  • Hiding listings - ebay are hiding sellers listings so they have to pay to make them visible again
  • Disabling the invoice facility - buyers are forced to pay BPF on each item so no combining orders now.
  • Makes the buyer pay higher postage if we only offer one carrier

Re: Simple Delivery

Yes I am.

I don't list a lot anyway. Maybe 4 or 5 a week.

Perhaps just one empty listing with picture showing why we've delisted?

Re: Simple Delivery

I managed to adapt when the BPF and delayed payouts started but simple delivery means losing control of how I post and this might be the last straw for me.

In order for ebay to get the simple delivery postage correct we have to package as we list so we can input the measurements/weight of each package.  If we don't and ebay/AI get the postage wrong the buyer will purchase the postage label from ebay (ebay then send us the label) but it will be no good so we can't send, probably have to cancel the whole purchase or buy correct postage out of our selling money, wiping out some of what we got for the item.

Also if we opt out of one of the carriers i.e. evri, ebay will charge the buyer more for the remaining postage carrier, I assume to punish us (the seller) for only allowing one carrier, making the price more expensive so we'll lose out on making sales.

Also if ebay deem it necessary, even if we deselect, for example, evri ebay can go against this as their terms and conditions say they can.
