Simple Delivery, just a couple of questions. lol

Hi,

Reluctantly, I will be ending my listings by the end of the week, but will probably be dragged kicking and screaming into simple delivery. Having created my first simple delivery listing as a test, just a couple of questions. I have thankfully excluded Evri from my listing by using the 'postage preferences' in my account.

Looking at the postage options in the listing once live, available to the buyer are two options, standard tracked and express tracked delivery. It doesn't specify what these are. Other than select parcel size, I was at no point able to select a royal mail postage service like previously. Is it, hopefully due to the compensation level, RM Tracked 48 and Tracked 24 ? Please not second class signed for, lol.

With the international shipping, i have not opted for international postage in the postage options tab, but confusingly the 'excluded locations' tab further down the page is still showing and there are no excluded locations filled in. Furthermore, does anyone know if you can include international postage for some listings, and opt out for others ? Previously, it was either a blanket yes or no.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply and feel free to ask any other questions in the thread if you want to. Simple delivery, unfortunately is here.

Thanks

Re: Simple Delivery, just a couple of questions. lol

I have had a pretty bad experience with eBay, their obfuscated simple delivery system, and their choice of Packlink as some sort of broker. I believe Packlink may have been kicked out of the equation now, but may be wrong.

Example 1. Shipped item using DHL as option on simple delivery. Size and weight were measured to the mm and g. DHL broke the item on delivery,  acknowledged this but gave it to the buyer anyway. 2 weeks later Packlink remove extra funds directly from my PayPal account without any authorisation.

On challenging this  Packlink claimed the parcel was over weight. I ssked for proof and  what was happening about the compensation requests that DHL were ignoring from both buyer and seller. Packlink could provide no proof or alternative measurements avoided the issue of damage, and refunded the excess charge 'as goodwill '.

Example 2: Same issue but this time with an Evri parcel. In this case eBay had got the sizing and weight wrong. I was charged, plus extra making the charge more than just altering the postage label from 1 to 2kg . Packlink claimed it was my fault and they weren't responsible for administration surcharges.

Result is I reject all simple delivery options and mark everything as other courier so that I have control of postage. eBay/Packlink/PayPal have got some shady agreement in which your funds can be raided as they see fit. And your voice as a seller is irrelevant to them.

Re: Simple Delivery, just a couple of questions. lol

Packlink are no longer involved with Simple Delivery.

The only carrier options with Simple Delivery currently are Royal Mail and Evri so the item sent with DHL can't have been a Simple Delivery label.   If the other item was a Simple Delivery label then it should of been accepted by the carrier regardless of the weight/size discrepancy as that is part of the agreement that eBay has with the carriers.

Re: Simple Delivery, just a couple of questions. lol

one positive with simple delivery is that because the buyer pays ebay for the delivery - net earnings ie price less delivery and fees is used to calculate thresholds for HMRC - under the old system fees and delivery were included in the calculation for HMRC thresholds .

So not all bad considering !
