Just found out yesterday that all our listings have been changed to all Simple Delivery and Ebay with its AI or automated whatever it is? has miscalculated the sizes and the types of postage that the buyers would have to pay. I had to go through all listings to check and amend to correct sizes and weights. This is very inconvenient. On some listings which are high value we should have the option of signature on delivery confirmation such as Special Guaranteed delivery or Royal mail tracked with SIGNATURE. Why isn't this allowed as a option?? As we all know sometimes when items are delivered even when they are 'tracked' are at risk of being left in a supposed 'safe place' or thrown at some doorstep for some person to walk off with it (I have seen this numerous times with Evri which I refuse to deal with) - I don't class this as proof of recipient receiving the item safely because the buyer can claim they did not receive it. if the situation does not change with how Ebay deals with this then is it really worth selling on this platform?

As all the carriers nowadays insist on using a PDA screen where a signature is required, and bearing in mind that it is virtually impossible to create anything on the PDA screen that looks anything like your normal signature, I would venture to suggest that requiring a signature doesn't really mean anything, or add much to the the security of the delivery any more.
Regardless, I came to the conclusion that with the recent changes to both the way they pay out and the enforced change to Simple Delivery it is (as your last sentence suggests) really not worth selling on ebay as a private seller.
SD has been in operation for several months now, and is several weeks since they started the process of making it mandatory for private sellers, and yet the problems that people are having with it, and the issues with carriers not scanning the labels at the point of delivery shows it continues to be a shambles.
I've stopped selling (not that I used to sell much to start with), and I have mostly stopped buying from private sellers.

I don’t have to stop selling
ebay sorted that out for me ages ago, they stopped visibility
trickles of orders interspersed with a few lucky rushes now and then but all are getting far and few between
to think you have to spend so much time now doing the simplest of things to not get a sale …what for? I guess I’ve realised eBay is becoming like Etsy..your stuff sits there for eons and if it sells it sells
re the OP
if someone wants to scam you they will say that’s not my signature
ebays system lets the buyer chose the delivery option , standard or express
even if signed for was a simple delivery option buyers wouldn’t chose it if they can get postage for less

Some of your items may not fit the Royal Mail parcel size under simple delivery. It maybe worth checking.

The reason stuff hangs about for eons on etsy is because the vast majority of it is massively over-priced.

Yes they are in the main but not always
mine wasn’t
I suppose my pics could of been better, who knows
perhaps because things are overpriced there in general people stopped looking there unless it was for rarer things

As long as your items (when packaged) fit the absolute maximum weight (20kg) and sizes, you didn't need to "go through all listings to check and amend to correct sizes and weights" and Simple Delivery is for any value up to £750 and should automatically not be available if more than £750.
You may however want to check that each item is not excluded, prohibited nor compensation restricted by ebay Simple Delivery, RM and Evri.
