Simple Delivery Exemptions

When trying to create a listing today, I was forced to use so-called Simple Delivery. This is despite my item being under £10 and under 100g.

Has anyone else had problems?

Can someone from eBay please provide some clarification?

Thanks.

The opt out only applies to certain categories - but it all seems a bit hit and miss as to what categories these are.

Re: Simple Delivery Exemptions

If you're planning on selling custom gifts and merchandise, as per your avatar, you'd be way better off with an eBay business account, whereby you don't have to use eBay's Simple Delivery and your buyers won't be charged the 4% + 75p Buyer Protection fee on top of your listing prices.

A Business seller is someone who buys or makes items to sell on.  They need to be registered as a business to meet the requirements of UK law. eBay will be providing HMRC with your details anyway so it's vital to keep correct accounts for your tax return. You can obviously offset more expenses as a business seller, but can't offset any at all as a private one.

To correctly register as a business seller simply go to your Personal Information in your account and to the right of Account Type, which will be showing as 'Individual'  you'll see an Edit option.

This doesn't affect your feedback profile or any current listings, it merely upgrades your account so that you're compliant with current consumer and eBay policy.

If you're also selling your own items, just open another eBay account (you can have more than one).

Re: Simple Delivery Exemptions

Looking at your listings - it does indeed look like you should be a business seller as you aren't selling off your unwanted second hand goods.

Shifting to business seller will allow you to drop simple delivery

You website would also indicate that perhaps you need to review your account status, here on eBay before they catch up with you. It would certainly allow you to get round BPF and SD, if correctly registered.

Re: Simple Delivery Exemptions

I get the impression they've made their decision long ago on what account type they feel they need to be on. So frankly if they wish to remain on a private seller account - they can deal with the consequences of that. Fail to see why any help should be offered.
