Its obvious that Evri cannot cope with the increased business from Ebay. Parcels are taking much longer to arrive - if they arrive at all!
In the last week, I have been turned away twice from the drop off point as they are full and cannot take any more parcels until the following day.
Two parcels that I have received this week were damaged. One with the contents missing and the second with the contents damaged.
Parcels are being overcrowded and crushed into the back of regular cars. It is just not acceptable!
I will now stop buying from Ebay as I cannot trust Evri to deliver my packages in one piece.
If Ebay were trying to compete with other selling sites, they are currently having the opposite effect. At least I have a choice of delivery companies with other platforms.

HI op, you will be pleased to learn that Evri has amalgamated with DHL...good move?

Can buyers not chose Royal Mail instead ?
I know sellers can chose which method they prefer or chose both when listing but surely eBay should allow buyers same choice? If seller has both enabled that is

You can if you wish under Simple Delivery delete Evri as one of your ( current) options with Simple Delivery, and just have Royal Mail.
Though only having one choice for your buyers eBay class this as a lesser experience for the buyer hence then, the RM postage becomes a little dearer.
Delete Evri in your site preferences >> shipment prefs here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/pref

When purchasing I can only see the Evri delivery or Evri delivery to store option. No option for Royal Mail.

This is really helpful, thank you.

So as a seller, if you delete Evri from your options, you're forced to pay more for Royal Mail than you would otherwise - surely that's blackmail? It's like punishing you for not using Evri!
I think eBay's pretty well done now, they've clearly shot themselves in both feet with both barrels.

'Can buyers not chose Royal Mail instead ?'
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think the buyer has any choice in which *company* does the delivering; the choice is between 'standard' and 'express' delivery. The identity of the deliverer is not stated......
Ebay know Evri have an appalling repuation, but they have put a lot of money into teaming up with evri, so they don't want buyers to be given the option of avoiding their new best buddy !
15-05-2025 2:54 PM
I wonder if that happens even if seller has Royal Mail on too
theres no way to know I guess
thanks

Royal Mail postage tracked 48 costs same as RM charge even if you disable evri
that's for small parcel ie 3.45£
15-05-2025 2:59 PM
Ah so if you have both enabled eBay don’t offer buyer RM
not on really
mght be a glass antiques vase you wouldn’t want evris mits on in any universe at any time ever
thanks

Please don't shoot the messenger here, I've actually deleted all my items as I cannot reconcile my selling with certain aspects of Simple Delivery.
You can call it ' blackmail' , eBay see it as a lesser ' good experience' for the buyer only having one choice of postal service. Eliminate one, leaving only one choice, that then becomes a higher postage price.
As said, I'm only the messenger, not in agreement with many aspects of SD.

I'd love to know how, given that eBay is apparently a sinking ship that's probably going to be out of business in 6 months because all the sellers have definitely left for good in protest over the Simple Delivery furore.
Or at least that's what I've been told...

Probably because evri is a cheapskate company that hasn't invested enough in its infrastructure or the logistics of collecting its parcels from drop-off points regularly enough. Pays the drop-offs the minimum it can get away with for storing the parcels insecurely anywhere they can find a space.
Pays the collection drivers at a minimal piece work rate, same as it does its delivery drivers. But expects them all to perform like Superman on steroids.
Another company that doesn't give a t*ss about its customers or their parcels or its employees and agents, its sole consideration is how much profit it can squeeze out of any situation. Just like ebay in so many ways. The two are made for each other and the results will be predictable, a rubbish service from beginning to end.

So as I said - blackmail, and what about a 'good experience' for the seller or doesn't that count anymore.
I'm over 70 now and I've spent all my life in business. If there's one thing I learned in best part of 50 years, the greatest asset to a company is their customer base and their staff. Disrespect or disenfranchise either and your business is doomed to failure.
I had reps running round getting new business around 10% of their time, the other 90% looking after existing customers and let me promise you from experience, if you lose a customer, it's very very difficult to get them back.
Come on eBay, you can do better than this - listen to your sellers!!!

To answer some of the questions.
I have both options enabled - only because I still have a few LL that would go as RM, if it wasn't for those, I would have Evri only. If you have Evri only, you still pay more than if you have both, so it's not designed to push people to use Evri, eBay obviously want you to use both options.
I have found so far that it works as I would expect (and would have opted for under custom) - RM for LL & 1-2kg parcels, Evri for 1kg parcels. So basically the best/cheapest option for the size and weight.
A seller has no idea if it will be RM or Evri until the buyer has paid.
The buyer just sees 'Standard Tracked' or 'Express Tracked'. Standard would be Evri standard or RM Tracked 48. None of my buyers have opted for 'express' yet, but I would imagine that would be RM Tracked 24, or Evri Next Day.
@loosecheese
"When purchasing I can only see the Evri delivery or Evri delivery to store option. No option for Royal Mail."
If you can see a courier named then the item isn't sent by Simple Delivery - you would only see the options of 'standard' or 'express'.

Hi
I am having exactly the same problem - once again the drop off point will not accept my parcel as the courere has not visited!
Tired to explain the issue to eBay staff but they just don't understand what is wrong- spoke to a male member staff at eBay who became verbally abusive telling me that they had found a seller for me and that Evri not their problem - called me ungrateful - I terminated call

Wow. So many unhappy callers, the CS rep is overwhelmed and having a meltdown.
