Send offer to buyers - item promotion

I sold two items during the fee free period and it was after sending offer to buyers (viewers/watchers or both I am not sure). The two items sold for the original buy it now within a few hours, (after being on for about a week), it was a surprise to get the full BIN instead of the offer prices. Does making offers somehow promote your item to new buyers in the listings?

I've had that happen in the past too.

I was wondering if they had bookmarked with intention to buy, happy with the BIN price and when I sent the offers it kind of forces their hand to buy it before someone else can.

Most were repeat customers too.

I guess it could depend on how you price compared to your competition and if they like the look of your feedback or have already used you, they just buy at what they perceive as a fair price.

Or it was someone who didn't get the offer because they just happened across it and just bought it?

I have that happen to me a few times, enough to make me wonder if by sending an offer Ebay has boosted my item up the listings so potential buyers come across it first or if it is just a coincidence and it didn't move in the listings and would have been bought by the buyer regardless.

I think eBay algorithms like it when you engage with the process. Adding "best offer", sending offers, relisting "sell similar" etc all seem to increase visibility. The more you sell the better your visibility gets. Sometimes just cheaply selling off things that haven't sold make your stats rise on the Overview and improve listing visibility.  I check the overview stats regularly if they are dropping, you know you you need to "add" add a few listings, reduce a few prices, send a few offers.
