Selling without Simple Delivery

Hi All, I have not bothered trying to sell a thing since the changes, so now not a clue how it all works.

Can a seller list something for less than £10 and post it the easy way in a stamped addressed envelope by Royal Mail without a tracking number or will I not get paid without an eBay label or tracking.

If I can, will it show the buyers address to post it to also when listing allow me to add the postage costs for UK and overseas mail? I did try to list something in April at the beginning but remember not being able to show the charge for overseas mail only for the UK.

Been hoping to no avail that eBay would have switched back to pre April days and kicked these changes in touch.

If it's less than £10, also less than 100g, and also will fit in a letter-sized envelope, you can still use custom postage.  Note that Large Letters are not included - they have to go by Simple Delivery.

Regarding getting paid, as with absolutely everything to do with ebay these days, it's not straightforward.  The info is on this page:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814#section2

Actually what you says is also true of RM Large Letter size but eBay have a glitch where some Categories are not loading with Custom Postage. eBay said in June that they are 'working on it'. Slowly I have seen some of these Categories switch to a choice between SD and Custom Postage.

Will you continue to sell stamps for the most part? If so, Stamps is one of the eBay Categories that is still exempt from Simple Delivery. Also if you switch to a Business Account you are exempt from SD too.

Thanks for your reply, I have only ever sold stamps and never had a problem doing so when posting with RM. Would do so again if it went back to before these changes.

eBay have not done sellers  selling cheaper stuff any favours with their SD & BP.

Looks like many like myself now see it a waist of time doing it this new way, still remembering how easy it was before.

If you are selling stamps then you can still use custom delivery via RM, in an envelope, with stamps attached. That said, I would recommend using an ebay tracked service (LL) for any sale over £20 (not SD but the get postage label button on CD), the cost will be £2.70 including a collection should you wish your postman to collect.

Hi, Thanks for the advice,

I see even after the changes you are still selling stamps. looking at your listings it looks like you still use RM normal post £1.10 for local purchases.

Hope you don't mind me asking but what postage do you charge if someone buys from abroad when I did look I was not able to list an item showing the additional international postage cost, of course  if you only charge them £1.10 when you pay £2.80 surely on an item of £1.75 you would be well out of pocket.

Sorry to also ask but how do you manage if a customer buys more than one lot from you are you still not able to combine the postage like before? or have they changed that

Last one someone said stamps are exempt from from Special Delivery if sold for more than £10 is this true.

See what I mean me saying coming back on with all these new rules its hardly worth the effort anymore.
