I have been a loyal and faithful member of ebay for 20+ years now, till quite recently it has been good, but of late not so good, sadly. The fees are just too much for me and also for other sellers too.
So what to do, I think that the options for me are to list less items only every second week, so my fees are less and to list less items.
I have found it very theraputic as I had to have open heart opp over a year ago, it gave me something to focus on and I met a lot of nice people and remain in contact with them to this day. But I can see me calling it a day and just giving away my stock of old car parts or just taking it all to the dump, which will be to me a sad day, but such is life and it will be the end of an era too.
Not much else I can say, but I think that ebay should rethink things as it is going to cost them a lot of business, I wonder, I can see that nowdays that their is very little or no loyalty at all.
Kind regards to all who read this.

I don't think it's just the coin category, back when I did get a few sales in vintage glass I found more or less the same.
I'd list at a fair start price 7 day auction. Everything I list now gets Watchers (waiting for an offer?) but rarely would I get even one bid.
Re-list at the same price BIN and sometimes got a sale quite quickly. My guess is that real buyers either no longer like auctions or just forget to bid in the last few minutes after putting the item on their Watch List seven days before.
I don't think people spend as much time on ebay as they did a few years ago, I know I don't and I've done exactly the same myself. I no longer look at my watch list every day to keep the reminder fresh in my mind.

As of yesterday/day before? business sellers now get no fees on preloved clothes until the end of the year.
Wow!! Could someone post the link to this please as I haven't read anything about it or received notification from eBay about it.
Thanks.

The original poster was a Private seller complaining about high seller fees, but this thread is nearly 2 years old, there haven't been any seller fees for Private sellers for quite some time.
Now , Buyer Protection Fee / Simple Delivery is another matter for Private sellers, and flavour of the month for the boards.
If you wish to mention Business seller fees being high, best to start a new thread.

I too have been on e bay for many years starting with one item I now have 2500 items listed
The charges e bay now make per order has got to the stage where its now time to move on maybe set up my own Web store or move to another platform
They have just got too greedy
Anyone any thoughts on a good platform to trial

Due to the new simple delivery costs and BPF being imposed upon private sellers I cannot list my books magazines and maps on eBay as the customer will be paying more for the 'privilege' without any benefit(s)
Postcards are not subject to SimpDel yet..so I'll continue with those.

Maps are exempt under books category / textbooks and references/maps or antiques / maps
If priced under £10 and under 100g
at least custom delivery should come up according to ebays information
(it does for me)

Buyer Protection fee is a joke - there was always buyer protection! Simple delivery is p*ss poor. No way to charge reasonable postage any more and I don't like to rip off my buyers. I have sold Christmas stencils for years - £1.69 each plus 95p for postage. Now ebay adds about 82p "Buyer Protection" to my £1.69 THEN imposes an obscene postage cost of £2.72!! And suddenly £2.64 becomes £5.23. I wouldn't expect anyone in their right mind to pay that for a stencil.
I didn't mind the previous seller fees so terribly much - after all it was me that ebay was providing a service to, but in their efforts to compete with Vinted (Why?! - it's dreadful!) they have created a model that cannot work for anyone on low cost items. Well, no-one apart from ebay, as that 82p buyer protection is around 50% of stencil selling price vs. the previous selling fee of around 13%.
I, like others here, are considering simply moving on. On most things I sell, despite "no selling fees" I lose more than I gain because the prices end up so stupid that I either have to lower my price to where it's not even worth it or else no-one will buy.

Yep, I've just unlisted a bunch of similar stuff as the customer simply wouldn't pay ebay's end cost now. I also object strongly to being told I WILL post within 3 days as part of Simple Delivery. I have health issues and I simply can't guarantee that. I've never had a buyer complain about my handling time in the 20+ years I've sold on ebay. But ebay clearly knows better!
I wish ebay management would read some of these comments. I just discussed some of this today with a customer rep, who obviously wasn't in a position to do anything other than sidestep my comments and questions, but surely there's someone with a brain in their management who can see what the impact of these new dictats is? In the meantime, I'm going to be reading this thread for suggestions of other platforms. Pity, I've used ebay for around 20 years, but enough is enough.
