I have been a loyal and faithful member of ebay for 20+ years now, till quite recently it has been good, but of late not so good, sadly. The fees are just too much for me and also for other sellers too.
So what to do, I think that the options for me are to list less items only every second week, so my fees are less and to list less items.
I have found it very theraputic as I had to have open heart opp over a year ago, it gave me something to focus on and I met a lot of nice people and remain in contact with them to this day. But I can see me calling it a day and just giving away my stock of old car parts or just taking it all to the dump, which will be to me a sad day, but such is life and it will be the end of an era too.
Not much else I can say, but I think that ebay should rethink things as it is going to cost them a lot of business, I wonder, I can see that nowdays that their is very little or no loyalty at all.
Kind regards to all who read this.

IF anyone is waiting for me to send them a low offer or even an offer at all.....they will be waiting forever lol
Am I desperate? Yes, desperate to get rid of the stuff we have before we pop our clogs and our poor daughter has to sort it all. We could give it way (oh the times I have thought to do that!), but with times as they are a little bit for our junk highly valuable objects is useful for bills, food and books, so I battle on.
With some of my OH's stuff we are happy to hold out for that eventual buyer at the price we set, but with other stuff, I will take what I can get. I have Best Offer on most things (with a minimum set so I don't have to respond to the silly offers) and will send out offers as well. I also put things on FB at way less than I do on here, because there are no fees/postage costs.

I just have the one son and i know what he would do........he would just dump everything grrrrrrrr
I often joke to him that if we pop our clogs..........everything in the house is of value so do not dump it !!!!

I have never sent an offer out and never use Best offer option. I put things on auction at a price i would like and sit and wait. When i get fed up of seeing it i may lower the price or i might just take it to the car boot, as it is all family stuff i am not in a hurry to sell and a few things have been listed for a couple of years, some sell eventually, its just waiting and i can do that. The day i cannot then the whole lot will go to a charity shop. One thing i have often wondered about though is why there are some people on here who do not list anymore and just come on to moan! If i was so disgusted with e bay that i no longer used them then i would not even come on the site.

I wonder about this too! They can also be abusive posts.

We are refusing to donate to charity at the minute this is because everything we donate does not get put out....as the staff tend to have it and that is not why we donate 😞 (thats another story)
People come on here to moan and rant to get out their frustration...in my opinion thats fine but they should not keep posting the same rant on several threads as we got the message the first time.
Whether its auction or BIN and how much someone is prepared to let their item go for ...depends on their personal circumstances so its not a one size fits all senario when selling on the site.

It's the 'airport departure syndrome' posts that make me chuckle - I'm leaving eBay announcements, only to see the poster is very active on the listing front.

Sorry I was just looking for imformation on selling Items on ebay and came across this thread and quite probably my input is of little value. Maybe you can use Gumtree. Classiccar, I don't know if you can list items on the site as I have never tried. However, given that you have lots of parts that are probably difficult to fund unless you know where to look I would go down the route of having a website just keep listing maybe one or two items on ebay and then link to your shop.
Having read through some of the messages i think I will steer away from ebay TBH. All the best jim

Prob because they rant and then look at their bank balance 😂

I really don't blame you Jim.
eBay really is not what it used to be, now it's very expensive, hard to sell on and a jumbled up mess.

Time for me to bid everyone farewell for a while 🙂
Time to schedule a load of listings for later. The past month Ebay have "switched us back on" (shock) so we are going to try and make the most of it.

I really do not mind the "expensive part" and its still cheaper than most auction houses and the hassle of boots etc which are not an option for us. (too old for that)
IF we are paying fees at least it means we are actually selling.

😂 Come on now you seem to be doing ok on the site.
Also thanks for making me laugh after reading your feedback

Ive had it and only been selling two months, they keep holding my funds as I am a new seller yet all my feedback and reviews so far are good! they made £4.99 today off a £10.99 necklace!!! £50 off one bag previously and all the other fees. it is costing me more than I am making and I am trying to start a business due to being ill and not being able to work!

You have some used clothes listed that are now totally free to sell until the new year so that should ease some of the burdon.
09-10-2024 7:15 PM
Lmfao are you serious I have 4 and I've had watchers on those for a year! It does not relieve the burden of trying to start a business and then taking more than I am selling. I am a new seller and it's a very young venture. If they hold all my items funds every time I won't be able to sell anymore. I won't be able to buy more stock

A great attitude 👍 I was just making you aware that there is now free selling for used clothing, as I was finding the fees too high as well and I too have only been selling for around 2 months. I did not look through your entire listings just the first few that came up.
I was just making you aware in case you did not know because if you already sell used clothing then gear your selling towards that for the next few months while it has no fees, i'm also confused how you said you've had watchers on them items for a year and then your post before said you've only had eBay for two months. But anyway crack on

Could it be that they have another eBay account ? which they have been using previously to sell stuff for over a year ?? 🙄
