Ok so even after many years and thousands of Transactions this is the first time ive had this.
Bought an item,I could see even without taking it out of the inner pack that it was broken and also the wrong size,
Reached out to the seller but got no reply so i opened a return, Posted the item back.
I saw yesterday the delivered notification, On checking it shows as delivered but then on Royal Mail it says,
Unable to deliver as package refused, Will be returned to sender.
Now i know a few days ago on the return it said,Buyer can ask Ebay to step in after 04 Sept.
That has now strangely Disappeared. Im wondering if after tomorrow the 4th that i can get Ebay to do the refund as clearly the seller doesnt seem to want to.
I remember in the past if a return was refused the seller still had to comply and refund otherwise this could become a stratagy for refusing returns and refunds.
Obviously since then many things have changed on Ebay but im hoping common sense will prevail .
I have never had this issue as if i get a return when selling i refund the same day the item arrives back.
I dont wait for Ebay to step in.

The option to escalate should appear when it becomes possible, ie. after the 4th. I don't know why that has disappeared but should not affect the process. eBay only require attempted delivery for returns.
If you have any problems escalating you can try contacting ebay direct by requesting a callback on here:

How did you post the item back? Did you use a label that was provided via the case or did you purchase your own label?

I used the Ebay label to return. Woke up this morning to a refund after escalating yesterday.
Now to confuse matters the package has been returned to me around an hour ago, Big red sticker saying refused on the front .Not sure what the seller was trying to achieve, Having looked at their feedback they look like a newish seller,
Perhaps they mistakenly thought refusing would mean no refund.
Anyway i have the item and the money so i will message them,See what they want to do.
Thanks for those that replied its appreciated.
