Just sold something. Over £10.00, under 100g.
I've can click the blue box to get SD label and QR code, but, I've also been given customers address and option to apply own tracking number without progressing to SD. This was on an existing listing and £2.99 was the postal charge I had set.
Screenshot of transaction.

I wonder if this is the 'interim solution' for existing listings? Rather than make them wholly SD, give sellers the choice.
I also wonder if at the moment the postage is in limbo waiting for you to make your choice. Choose SD and it goes to ebay, choose your own and it goes to you.

It doesn't make much sense to me.
If you are charging £2.99 for p&p but with SD ebay say charge a higher price, doesn't that mean that the buyer has to wait around to pay you whilst you decide which way to go. But if they pay the SD price straight away and you decide you want the £2.99 where would that difference in the amount go to?

No idea. Working that out is way beyond my skill set and pay grade 😂😂😂😂

Just sold another cheapie. Under £10.00 and under 100g.
This time is says 'buyer selected postal service Royal Mail 2nd class letter / large letter'
No mention of SD being an option anywhere.

from what i have seen it is above the pay grade of those who initiated SD as well. They have not got a clue.

So maybe on that one it is automatically applying the SD exemption? All guess work though as ebay has not seen fit to tell us what will happen apart from the bald announcement.

The screenshot shows the buyer has paid £2.99, they will not be asked to pay more, but may be refunded the £2.99 if the OP does their own postage.

Well it's not in ''Limbo'' that's for sure. I sold 2 auction items last night, been on a 10 day auction, buyers paid, clicked ''get postage label'', printed off my ''Tracked 48'' label, a service that I have been using for all my infrequent sold items over the past few months, made sure the weight box said 750g max, and bobs yer uncle off to the post office soon. Job done! Cannot see what all the fuss is about, it's so Simple even the Americans can do it!

Yes, but SD is and will be exempt on items up to £10.00 and under 100g.
Im not going to use SD if the option to to opt out due to price / weight is available.
If I can't opt out due to weight / price / size, then yes, it is very simple.

SD wasn't being added to existing listings yesterday, so useless you chose it when you listed, your sales should not have been impacted.

But the Americans are not being asked to do it - in fact nobody else in the world is being asked to do it.
Only in Rip Off Britain

I think Papso is correct. My item that sold this morning shows the buyer paying £1.55, but the screen to purchase the label suggests the buyer selected it. There are no other options to purchase any other labels at this point.

Royal Mail have changed the weight limit on Tracked large letters to 1KG. 2nd/1st remain 750g.
