Royal Mail or Evri

Can anyone help with this query please?

If I offer free postage and select both Royal Mail and Evri as couriers can I be the person who decides which of these couriers to use when my items sell? I don't want to post expensive items using Evri because I have found them untrustworthy with items being left on the pavement doorstep and arriving damaged but I would risk cheaper items with them.

I don't have a smartphone,  or printer, so the Evri 6 digit code is a good idea but I'm a bit concerned about the QR code for Royal Mail deliveries. Does the QR code get sent as an email and do I need a smartphone and apps please?

Thanks very much.

I don't think you can choose.  I'm set to Royal Mail only so don't know for sure.  I have my parcels collected and the postman bring a label with him.  A QR is no good if you can't display on something in a Post Office, be that a tablet, smart-'phone or on a piece of paper.

If Evri loose or damage something e-Bay covers you up to £750 so that isn't really a concern.

Thank you very much for your reply to my question. The system eBay had for a few  months whereby sellers could choose the so called simple delivery, or continue to use their own courier was so much better than being bullied like this  - particularly for older and maybe less tech savvy people such as myself.

I have withdrawn all my items whilst I try to decide what to do next.  I also want to avoid the problems that simple delivery is causing now there is no freedom of choice. This is the worst thing that eBay have ever done and you have to wonder if there was anyone at eBay questioning the decision.

If you’ve chosen to have both Evri  and Royal Mail  you don’t get to chose at all

Ebay/the buyer chose

A workaround is

if you want some items to be evri only or Royal Mail only you have to disable the one you don’t want

if you want both but more control, you can set up another account and use one for Royal Mail and one for evri

having said that eBay say sometimes they can override your carrier choice either because your parcel is too big for one or the other doesn’t deliver to buyers location but even here it’s a bit unclear as to what goes on though I think in the main it’s not a regular occurrence

Your other option is to switch to a Business account, where you can post without Simple Delivery.
