Royal Mail 2d Tracking

Hi, im just wondering if anyone else is experiencing royal mails 2d tracking not updating? (royal mail 24/48 / 1st / 2nd class post) i have a number of shipments which have been delivered but they don't seem to be updating on eBay.

The standard Tracked 24/48 services seem to update fine its just the 2d (scanned on delivery/ mainly large letters) shipments that don't seem to be updating, Thank you.

Re: Royal Mail 2d Tracking

Yes me too.  Had it for around 2 weeks now, some update, some dont but eBay doesnt act on the tracking - so that it's showing as not posted, even though the tracking number shows as delivered.

I've contacted eBay CS and let them know - but they say there isnt an IT issue.
I've posted on the weekly community chat and let them know and they say they'll pass it to IT

Might be a good idea to give eBay Customer Support a call to add to the list.

Also just as an aside, if a buyer opens a case, and the tracking number is there, eBay systems dont act automatically on it either and mark the item as received. You need to contact eBay CS directly and have them close the case manually.

Just to be clear for other Sellers, are you asking about:

Signed For that you added to RM 2nd? or

free Reference Number internal tracking for all RM 2nd (except 100g LL)?

If it is the latter, I have experienced this many times. As @custom-giftsuk says eBay has access to the internal RM system and can see tracking updates that mere mortals can't. If you have any INR Cases, just re-enter the Reference Number within it. Lack of scanning is usually a RM Postie issue, not an eBay IT issue.

Re: Royal Mail 2d Tracking

Its the ones which look like this 32012225200068E9DC7E5 and only get scanned on delivery (royal mail 24/48 use them) sadly royal mail maybe at cause but its not to do with posties not scanning them as all the ones im having trouble with show as delivered on the royal mail site. The information is just not being passed over to the eBay site.

for tracked 24/48 services the tracking information works fine and does come over to ebay its just the 2d (scanned on delivery) barcodes this is affecting

Re: Royal Mail 2d Tracking

I'm having problems with "standard second class with delivery confirmation", not being shown as delivered. I've had a few buyers now, complaining about non-delivery and opening INR's. I'm not sure whether buyers are seeing the non-delivery tracking and trying it on, or whether it's the new RM rules on second delivery being delivered every other day (and not weekends) causing delays. If the latter, Ebay need to extend the delivery times.

Re: Royal Mail 2d Tracking

What I have is. maybe different from whats being talked about here and I do apologise if this is the case.

So items go out RM48 LL 100g which is tracked upon delivery.

So when using RM OBA Click & Drop - when an order is placed by a customer eBay send RM the details, and RM creates a record. When I apply postage, create a label it's generated with a tracking number which upon manifesting - which is RM talk for saying "its posted",  RM send that tracking to eBay.

So far so normal.

What happens is eBay should send a notification to the buyer, saying your item has been dispatched, once tracking is provided and I've marked as dispatched.

What actually happens is eBay add the tracking and it's never updated again even if the item is delivered. It still shows as unposted, so buyers think they can chance their arm and put in an INR because according to eBay the tracking number is .... not a tracking number but clicking on that tracking number takes you to RM site where it shows as delivered.

So buyers can open INR cases when tracking shows as delivered, or if i provide tracking in an INR case, eBay recognises the tracking, but does nothing with it - ie it doesnt lock down the case, it still doesnt show as delivered. It literally is like eBay looks at it and goes "meh".

What I then have to do is phone eBay CS, and they manually click on each tracking number, RM says it's been delivered and then despite eBay saying its not even posted, even though it has the tracking number which is authentic, they manually close the INR.

I've attached a screenshot showing such although the details are blurred out

Re: Royal Mail 2d Tracking

I'm getting that as well. Been like it for a while. Typical half-hearted Ebay policies. If you are going to bring in something, it needs to work properly, and all the time. It may be Royal Mail's fault, it may be Ebay's fault. Either way this people's livelihood's and not a game and they need to get their acts together.

Re: Royal Mail 2d Tracking

I cant see how it's RM fault. The tracking number is there, its valid, eBay systems dont even want to look at it. When you click on the tracking number on eBay - it links out to the RM track site which shows its delivered.

When an item is scanned on delivery  the delivery confirmation then needs to be pushed through to eBay in order for the eBay system to show as delivered.  If that doesn't happen then it would be Royal Mail at fault.

Re: Royal Mail 2d Tracking

I agree, if that was the case, then yes it could either be RM fault for not pushing the tracking number through or eBay for not accepting the tracking number. I doubt we'll ever know if its a push or pull action because that's an IT issue and we never find out whats behind the doors.

However when the tracking number is on the eBay system and it's a valid tracking number then that is eBay at fault as per the image I attached to my message.
