I just looked at an item I might make an offer for and notice this claim....
'Postage to:
Postage service: E v r I Tracked
Estimated delivery: 2-5 working days after seller receives cleared payment.
*The estimated delivery time is based on the seller's dispatch time, the postage service selected, and when the seller receives cleared payment.''
Just a little confused given sellers do not routinely receive payment until after delivery now.
This claim seems to assert that items are not sent until 'seller' has received payment. Do not they mean 2-5 days after EBAY receives payment.
Just seems a bit disingenuous.....

If the item is from a private seller they cannot assert on their listing to get the money first before sending. It used to be that way but we know it's not like that anymore.

Is the item being sold by a private seller or a business seller? Is that message appearing in the postage section of the listing or the item description?
The linked help page states the following in regard to cleared funds, the wording of which is also quite interesting:

That only applies to private sellers. The postage/shipping option suggests the item is being sold by a business seller; is that the case?

I see the same on a private seller, simple delivery item.

That remark and the linked page mentioned in #3 are clearly out of date; said someone down the pub, allegedly.

No it's private, I can only assume, thinking about it, they haven't updated their listing template. 🙂

Private...

And sorry, forgot to say...in the postage section.

From what I can see that text only appears when you click on 'Contact Seller' in the listing and then 'Postage', not the postage section in the listing itself, so it may well be out of date.
What is useful in that section is it shows the actual carriers being used for items listed with Simple Delivery.

Similar text if you click the (i) on the item page:

Yes, but that text does make a bit more sense given that 'cleared payment' is actually referring to when the payment is received by eBay not when the seller receives it.

Not to me, as "cleared payment" is a link and goes to the same page mentioned above which states.

Only though when the seller is using a business account !
My OP referred to a private seller and in the postage section it said ...'will be posted after the seller receives cleared payment'. Of course that doesn't apply to private sellers any more.... As mentioned previously looks simply as if the person in question has somehow used the old template for listing ? Some issue at their end rather then ebay ?

My example is from a private seller https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/127200017189
It's not from the seller's template, there's no option to change this text. It's possibly used when a seller doesn't have much sales history - in the above item 2 items. Hence you don't see this alternative:

Hmmm, seems we see different things in listings, praps dependent on our own device ? or indeed sales history. This to me though is plain odd....your link, for me at least, states in ' dispatch time' , under 'postage' 'we will usually dispatch within 2 working days of receiving cleared payment.' It ought to say 'within 2 days of ebay receiving cleared payment' surely. This indicates a private seller listing also so.......if this statement is unalterable then it feels sloppy to me is all.
