RM Age Verification selected but only UPS at high price posting available

This item could have been posted for £3.39 a few weeks ago.  But now it has to be posted by Age Verification, so RM age verification postage was selected which was £7.

Now the item is sold, and we were trying to buy postage, but only UPS is available as posting option and the price has inflated to £10 because UPS charges £4.49 for age verification.  Why our initial selection for RM postage for this item in the listing is not available now?  Why is only UPS option with higher price available?

Is this normal process on eBay now?   Not sure as no sales were made for long time for us.

Yes, it's the new bladed items policy. It has affected 1000's of sales. I can't even sell a round headed letter opener without age verification. UPS is the only courier Ebay will accept at the moment to send items.

Why no Royal Mail?  Royal Mail also offers Age Verification service at much lower price.

Who knows? Ebay logic ( or contract with UPS more like).

Parcelforce do it too but we cant use them.

Cannot proceed with the selling due to not cost effective for selling, and UPS doesn't do QR code label.  We got rid of the old printer for using QR code posting.   No longer possible to post at all.

That's not good news. I was wondering if they did a QR or alpha numeric code. I too got rid of my printer and have some listings with age verification.

They seem to be intent on making it harder and harder to sell with all of these unnecessary obstacles in the way. It makes you wonder if anyone in the ivory towers has any business experience.

Yes, it is.  Now selling cost is too high, and selling became more difficult than before.

Maybe need to sell locally using Gumtree or hobbies or tools forums.

I’ve age verification on of all things a samurai keyring. Looked at other sellers they don’t have any so wondering if I stop my listing. 
but odd thing is I can still sell samurai earrings
