I listed a pair of shoes at £70 Looking today the price had been raised to £73.52 I got ebay to phone me and he said it was for buyer protection This raised price is going to put people off He said the only way round this was to revise my price but even when i did the price shown is still higher What is ebay playing at

They mean to reduce your price to compensate.   If you click on the buyer protection link (during the listing or revising process) next to the item price it will tell you how much will be added and you can use trial and error to make the right reduction so the end result is £70.

It's the BPF system, launched Feb 4 and has been rolling out through categories ever since.

 

What you are explaining is the easy bit. The hard bit occurs with offers. Don't try to agree a deal via message. You'll find out it's impossible to accomplish afterwards.

If buyer sends seller an offer the seller receives less (the seller effectively takes the BPF hit). If the seller sends the buyer an offer it's the offer plus BPF so the buyer pays more.

It's a nightmare.

Then there's delayed payments, not everyones favourite thing either.

& finally Simple Delivery which could be soon. That is potentially the worst of the 3.

4% of the price plus 75p buyer protection will be added to all private sellers listings.
