Postage

Hi. I've made a mistake with postage charged for an item. The buyer has paid but when packing it up, I notice it's slightly larger than the maximum size I've charged  for.

What do I do? 😳

Nothing you can ‘do’, if you mean how can you pass it on to the buyer.

You’ll have to pay the correct postage and take the hit of the difference yourself.

I thought that might be the answer. Lesson learned!

Postage

If the parcel is outside the sizes allowed for your postage - and if you purchased the postage labels via eBay, there may be an option for you to perhaps  cancel that label and purchase the one for the correct size and price, check to see if you can before posting. As if the eBay labels are not for the correct price then there is no way for you to " top it up" and possibly the buyer will be charged " underpayment of postage" fee or the postal courier can refuse until the correct postage is paid... or it may be that eBay charge you for the difference - I am not sure as I have never purchased eBay postal labels or used simple delivery.

That being said...

If you are posting independently - just take the hit, it is a lesson learned and often it goes in your favour  when the buyer sees that they have paid much less for the postage of their item.
