Post Office Issue with accepting parcel with Simple Delivery label

Went to the post office this morning to drop off parcel which had a QR code for simple delivery. When the cashier scanned the QR code but it flagged an issue which meant they were unable to enter parcel onto their system or give a receipt of postage.  The post office took the parcel anyway but now it doesn’t show on my eBay account  as posted.  The cashier said it was something todo with 24h vs 48h postage but didn’t really know what was going on.  Will call this one a not so simple delivery.  Hopefully the tracking will still work when delivered to the buyer so payment will go through on time…..

I took my parcels to a Royal Mail parcel locker and they all went through no trouble.

Thank you for your posts.

The Post Office is experiencing issues with Royal Mail T48 labels (print in store and at home). It is expected to be resolved by today the 4th of August. Post offices have been advised to still accept the packages. However if  your package is not being accepted there are alternative locations to send parcels such as collect + and lockers.

eBay has updated a banner to the site to advise users.

I think once the post office catch up with the issue it will work again.  They had no idea about it when I went this morning.

Posted 10 parcels this morning at my local post office only to be told all scanned ok but couldn't issue a receipt. Still showing as 'manifest' on eBay so are my parcels in the system or what.  Post office told me they would be scanned at the Royal Mail hub - please confirm.

Phoned CS to find out what's happening and he assured me that these absolutely no problem with postage or tracking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Complete and utter *bleep* let loose answering the public with no knowledge whatsoever. Complete corruption.

Tried to post a package this morning and Post Office couldn't accept it as T48 tracking is down, apparently only ebay affected as the previous customer paid for T48, private post nothing to do with ebay, that was fine.

Apparently ebay have a YA prefix which is not recognised yet ebay issued the label.

called CS for more info and they are completely unaware of any postage issues - you couldn't make it up!

Looks like the problem has been known about since the 2nd August.  No idea why Ebay was still issuing defective postage labels this morning:

The issues appears to have started on August 2 with reports on Down Detector indicating Tracked 48 package labels are being printed with a new prefix beginning with "YA" and that those labels are unable to be scanned in as accepted when tracking to a drop off point.

Ebay / Royal  Mail / Post Office need to communicate more effectively and let their customers know what is going on!!

I bought a private one yesterday but it also came out as YA so won’t scan. Seems to be affecting all 48 hour tracked as I couldn’t post my Vinted parcel either

I was told that eBay and the post office has had a fall out so how do I get a new label to send via yodel as already printed the prepaid label?

Same with me. Royal Mail 24hr tracked. No reciept. Just a signed hand written confirmation of postage   Lets see eBay sort this one. lol

My post office printed simple delivery labels today and accepted the packages but could not scan them full stop they told me to take photographs of the labels as proof that they had been posted.

I am hoping that as they pass through the Royal Mail system eBay will realize that they have been dispatched and will add this information to the orders.  Fingers crossed.

I bought a label privately with no ebay input yesterday and what is usually a TQ number was a YA number and would not scan.  So it is not just an ebay issue.

hi kat. i got the same problem i went saturday 02/08/2025 to post office. they refused to take the parcel they said tracking is invalid and you need to speak with ebay. i called ebay they said we have issued with tracking post office they try to resovle it until monday.  ebay said if the issued is not resolved you will get another new label. but until now i didnt get any new labels. and post office is refusing to take my items for post. i dont know what should i do now. my buyer is still waiting for products.
