When a person opens a new selling account, private, what is the time scale for payments on hold after a sale. If the item is sent by tracked and is shown as delivered the payment is released, if the item is sent by an untracked method due to the low value of the item, and the buyer, once they receive it leaves feedback, the payment is released, but if the item is sent by untracked and the buyer does NOT leave feedback, how long before eBay deems it to have been received and therefore they can release payment. I cannot seem to find any answers in any of the thousands of 'helpful' tips on how to sell on eBay! Any ideas folks?

There are no hard and fast rules.
Details from the link below but Ebay may hold funds for new and returning sellers for up to 30 days.
Until you are a regular, established seller you may be subject to apparently random payment holds, sometimes for quite low value sales.

Hi
As a follow up to my original question and your helpful and informative reply, should eBay not look again at this 30 day span from when a payment is made until it is released. For instance, I have a payment, my first on this new account for an item bought and paid for on the 2nd October 2024. It is for a minor amount, some £7.40 inc post which was 2nd class ordinary non tracked. Now, apart from the fact that the buyer has not left feedback which, would one assume, release the funds. Now they seem to not leave feedback for anyone, which is their perogative, but it leaves the seller ''out of pocket'' for 30 days, and the buyer has clearly received the item, otherwise they would be ranting and raving by now. Surely the algorithms should be set that if no feedback is received within 14 days, that 2 weeks, from post being made and recorded on eBay, the funds are made available. After all if there is a problem after that time period and the problem is found to be the sellers fault, Ebay are quick enough to reimburse the buyer out of the sellers funds or lodged payment methods/bank etc. I know how eBay works, but would imagin that completely new members would find this 'hold' restrictions pretty frustrating and off putting.

Ebay generally ignore feedback left by buyers when it comes to releasing funds. Feedback can be left in error or in haste and buyers still have up to 30 days to open a return, even if they have left positive feedback.
Sellers may find payment holds frustrating but, from my own experience, standard 'bricks and mortar' auction houses can take 6-8 weeks to pay sellers.

The payment hold is up to 30 days.
For low value items the funds will often be released sooner, even without tracking.

Check your post receipt, might be a number which will work on royal mail, tracked or not. I know click and drop do although large letters less reliable vs small parcel for scanning delivery. Will be enough to show delivered on ebay if its scanned.
