Pay per click

Pay per click seems to be the ultimate promotion, fees paid for items wether they sell or not, or is it money for nothing? I would like to hear from sellers who have positive feedback about this promotion, how it works for your business and wether it is value for money or not, or do you feel that this promotion is never going to work for sellers and it should be binned and we go back to just standard promote your listings.

Yes it is, I sometimes send them a couple of quid usually when my PP account is reasonable.  I must admit, not every time I use them, but I hope enough keep them going if most people did the same.  I've never looked for info. and been given a "We can't find anything about that" page.

So not the origin of "Smoke and mirrors" ?  "Selling smoke" was used by the Romans / Greeks, perhaps to big a gap?

I think you've got the germ of an idea there, Dave.  Tinned smoke.  Maybe the Romans had fire alarms that needed testing.

Glad to see someone in this thread does find pay per click useful for their unusual circumstances.  I'd previously assumed it was an utter con.

Re: Pay per click

PPC is an odd beast. Some items it defo sells them directly. The issue is tho, some items ive had 100 clicks and no sales BUT i reckon thoe clicks make people interested that they  come back and buy despite not actually being the click that did it. Course I could be wrong, i do get a lot of sales from promotions tho.

Re: Pay per click

It's not just conversion rates you need to monitor, it's order value as well.

My average order value on eBay is a very small fraction of the order value from my other platform and my website.  PPC would never work for me because, even if it increased the conversion rate, the value of the additional orders would be too low to justify the PPC charge.  I would just be a busy fool fulfilling the orders.

Re: Pay per click

It's scam.  I set a daily budget of £20 and it used £60 in the 1st 10 hours with zero sales.

It is frustrating to say the least.
