As a follow up to my previous post, i wonder if any of you private sellers out there would be interested in refraining from trying to sell for say a month ? If enough people did this then all these recent money grabbing schemes would bring in nothing to ebay at all and maybe just maybe the genius that thought it all up would have to rethink it all and then reverse it.If enough people did this just think of the impact it would have on this company.

You say all this as if it would never have occurred to eBay.
This will all have been extensively gamed in meticulous detail, from the best to the worst case scenarios. I'm sure they fully expect they will lose sellers and buyers. They will also realise that both will be replaced over time.
The vast increase in eBay's UK's profits coming directly from Simple Delivery will more than outweigh any drops in the other metrics. Only if the effects are significantly greater than they anticipated will they even consider changing course.

Been on here since 2004 and really enjoyed it until recently. I have totally stopped all my items for sale butI am not sure where to try selling them now(Mainly used motorcycle parts and some tools). I am not happy that ebay have taken away my choice to walk to my village Post office and help the family there to keep it going for the local community.

I believe this whole scenario of events has panned out because Obey are still losing revenue to the likes of Vinted and a multitude of other venues, which are there, but most sellers/buyers are unaware of there very existence.
I think the aim is to cull the number of low priced items and private sellers and then aim for higher priced sales items that bring in more revenue for less effort, less listings - end product will be they will also need less staff to manage matters!
Obey have emulated Vinted, wrongly believing that everyone will roll over to SD and accept the buyers tax - OR change their accounts to business accounts to avoid it. They have already made it almost obligatory to pay for upgrades and promoted listings in order to achieve decent visibility and make any worthwhile sales.
From what I can see it may not be going to plan, but they will stick with it for the foreseeable in the hope that they can break resistance!
Well I won't be broken, I took down most of my listings, went elsewhere, made a few sales and am consciously looking for other venues to sell off my unwanted items. There are lots more than even I realised, yes not as convenient, but sales are possible. I have some listings left here purely as a monitor - constantly checking what changes they make to SD - and the day its enforced, is the day I close and leave.
I will not buy here until I see a different approach, unlikely but possible. I will close the accounts and that will be me done after 23 years of what has gone from real enjoyment to the now overburdening monster that Obey has become.
