New changes to buyer fees and postage

Thank a bundle Ebay.....Due to your greed in now charging fees to buyers my sales have now plummeted to almost ZERO....Being a private seller and having listed my allotted amount of items (300) i only sold one item at £9.99 this month and all due to ebay charging the so called buyer protection fee.....Also the upcoming postage changes haven't helped either.

My credit card wishes I couldn't find anything to buy ... but sadly ... I've carried on buying the things I want to buy ... maybe no-one wants to buy your stuff?

I've never had trouble selling my records before Ebay made all these changes.

I`m in the same boat as you barely sold anything since the changes ,at my age (mid 60s) I can`t deal with these new changes anyway so sadly I`m not bothering any more. A sad end to my private selling day`s on eBay.

If I could add a little advice. Selling demo 7" singles, as you have been recently, is not suited to auctions, particularly when the vast majority of them are pretty obscure. If they were all on "Buy It Nows" they would go eventually, but the chances of someone looking for one particular one of yours, during that short seven day window, is pretty remote.

Also, listing ALL your demos at £9.00 plus BPF probably isn't helping. There are some real bargains at that price (although they probably weren't seen) in the ones which ended a few days ago, but there are many many more which are probably only worth £2 - £3, tops.

If I were you, I'd relist them as BINs in June, and vary the prices. Alternatively, bundle them up into one big lot, or at least a number of bigger lots. I'd be interested then, and I'm sure many others would too.

The majority of my demo's are booked or on discogs at a minimum of £10 so asking £9 isn't too much.Also it's the ebay buyer fees which hike up the price so why should i reduce my items just because ebay decide to be bloody greedy..

OK you carry on. Sadly, your results speak for themselves.

You do know that, if you put them on BIN, they will renew automatically, and will not count towards next month's 300 listings? In a few months, you could easily have over 1000 listings running, without paying any listing fees. I do think that's the way for you to go, but, if you think you know better....

They already have a "guaranteed" protection so why charge for it again under the guise of buyer protection fee.To me that's greed.

I only ever used buy-it-now once as ebay charged (MORE FEES) me extra for the privilege.

Exactly the same, age as well, no printer, no smartphone, my first sale today in nearly a month, thank goodness still on custom delivery. I am going to put all mine as collection only which in effect means no sales as who will come a distance for a knitting pattern!!

The fee is not hidden so you know where you stand anyway what does it matter as you are only selling unwanted items

You are selling as a private seller on both of the accounts you have used to post here, so there are no seller fees at all payable by the seller.

BINs is the way forward for you, on both the accounts we have seen.

You might also have a look at the amount you are charging for postage. You are charging £4.10 to send a 7" single, which can be sent for £1.55 by 2nd class in most of your cases, perhaps £1.80 for those which weigh over 100g. There really is no need to send a £2 single (on your "david" account) by Tracked24. Simple Delivery will change this once it arrives in your accounts, but, while you can, why not reduce the postage? It might make a difference, particularly in these low-priced items.

Yes there is a need as the items I sell get there quicker and I can get paid quicker (i don't have to wait 14 days after delivery to get my monies as per ebay rules).
You're a business seller so these sort of costs can be swallowed but not for private sellers.

There is no need to pay for tracking. The Royal Mail ID number serves just as well, gives a delivery confirmation, and is absolutely free. eBay considers that as tracking, and can be entered into the transaction as a tracking number. You will still be paid in the same timescale as if you had use a "real" tracking method.

It's a string of eleven characters, numbers and letters (at the moment I think they begin 11), and they will be shown on you proof of posting/receipt.

It's pretty academic, as Simple Delivery will, if implemented as it stands now, change them all to £2.70, but for as long as eBay allows, I'd reduce my postage charges.

I know people have different strategies, but I can't really see the logic in yours.

This is typical of business sellers you obviously don't like private sellers of any sort and want them off of ebay altogether.
Why should I have to wait 14 days to get paid when i can get my monies in 48hrs by using 24 tracked delivery.
If i'm forced into using something I don't agree to them i just go elsewhere (there are still sites that take sellers rights into account unlike ebay).
