I received this message, via Ebay messaging' purporting to be from the seller team (it's from an Ebay account, not support). It is clearly a scam attempt. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any mechanism to report it directly.
I've starred out the buyer id and link in the message.

Hi eagl-spenc, thanks for your post.
Just to confirm, you can forward that as an email to spoof@ebay.co.uk
If you could DM me the user ID, I would appreciate as well, so I can report the account directly from my end as well.
Thank you,
Marco

Did the message address you by your proper name ?.

Suspicious email
We'll let you know that we received the email.
Use 'help & contact' top left of your Ebay page for queries like this. I simply put 'spoof' in as the search term to get the information.

Looks like they did not address you by your real name just a Hello? eBay would never start their messages like this.
Just send it to spoof@ebay.com I find they reply very quickly to tell you, if it was spoof or not.

The notice on all messages since the ebay revamp of their messaging service.
All messages are received by eBay before being forwarded to the recipient. eBay uses an automated filtering system based on certain criteria for the protection of legitimate interests (to protect against fraudulent or suspicious activity or violations of eBay's User agreementUser Agreement or eBay policieseBay policies).
Why havent ebay picked up on this and stopped the OP being harassed or intimidated?

Just to reiterate the message is from an Ebay account, the same acount that claims to have purchased the item, seller id ******* in the message. What is troubling is the fact they were able to send a online link via Ebay messaging. The item has not been purchased and I added the seller id to my block bidders. It goes without saying I haven't used the link.
I'll send the message to Ebay spoof and let you all know the response.
Thanks

At the very top-right of the eBay message window there will be an icon with three dots. Click on that then select "Report message" (which is the only option available anyway).

This scam is common on Etsy. Scam Bots send you a message when you list a new item.
Its aimed at new sellers who dont know what they are doing and they hand over their bank details.
I take no responsibility on the content of the provided link, but as an example of some details.

I clicked the item and talked with "Momed53" asking why ebay was asking for the bank acccount details... "Momed53" told it was a boot and ebay asks this information when a account needs to be checked... I asked how could I know if "Momed53" is from ebay and if it can tell me some details on my account and it answered "we do not need to give you any other information, just add the details or the account will be suspended!"....
It was then I realizes it was not from ebay...

How can this pass ebay security?! Are our bank accounts details safe?!
08-02-2025 8:22 PM
'Are our bank accounts details safe?!'
They must be. Or scammers wouldn't be asking us to give them out....
08-02-2025 8:24 PM
Yes, you should be correct... but when the message comes directlly from ebay messenger and not from outside, we can wonder if the data is well guarded?
