The new rules state that I will not get paid until delivery which in my mind is like blackmail!! We are being held to ransom by the delivery companies to do their job properly, in other words, what happens when they go on strike or don't scan the final delivery, which I know happens. At Christmas Yodel was inundated with parcels and couldn't cope so had to suspend taking parcels in so caused a big delay in delivery. Come on Ebay, drop this unfair rule. Does it also mean I have to use Ebay postage which is dearer than I can get it for or is there another way to prove delivery?

Any postage with tracking will do (although we believe ebay intend making their own "Simple Delivery" postage compulsory by end of March). If the tracking does not show delivery payments will be released anyway after 14 days.

How do these work with the latest ebay insanity?
For auctions -
Combined lots postage.
Items with at the sellers discretion which offer Free postage.
When a buyer pays to avoid strikes for late payment, and either they are building a postage lot, or are away from home a short while with no one to receive the package.

So, just to be clear...
if ebay hold onto the money while the buyer is waiting for the goods to arrive is morally repugnant, but...
if the seller holds onto the money while the buyer is waiting for the goods to arrive is all fine and dandy.
Right?

Do they make the rules for the UK then - the UK being Guinea pigs for new incentives where the reactions wont be felt in the US ?

That would be eBay...... in response to the volume of complaints from cash buyers who'd been ripped off.

wow - ebay responding to complaints from users !!! Now thats quite unusual -
now those same buyers get to pay for Protection which they already have in the real world.

“Them indoors in San Diego Towers” - I think you meant San Jose. Please don’t slate San Diego; a lovely city and lovely people.

IMHO it's worse than that. This UK private sellers being used as lab-rats in an attempt to these latest changes working properly before launching compulsory payment holds and Simple Delivery onto UK businesses and if they still holds-up, world-wide.
Ebay usually prefers a one-size-fits-all solution to its problems.

It will be the new eBay.
You sent item first and get money later.

One question - IS IT LEGAL under UK Law ?

'One question - IS IT LEGAL under UK Law ?'
Ebay are a Mega-Corps with Mega-Lawyers. No way would they do something that opened them up to being sued.
With the money available that ebay have to spend on legalities, their lawyers could probably argue that Black is in fact, White, and get a court of law to agree with them.
(They might get run-over on the next zebra crossing mind you.....😁)
And we have all given our permission to let ebay do whatever they want, by 'agreeing' with their latest Terms-and-Conditions.
(we don't even have to 'tick a box' to agree ; we are deemed to have agreed by simply *using* ebay.......)
