eBay are supposed to give sellers 3 business days to respond to an open item not received claim.How long was it open for?
You may be able to get that feedback removed on the grounds that it mentions an eBay case, it's worth a shot.

Thankyou for your reply. I had a message saying the customer had opened an "item not received " case, then 4 minutes later had another message saying they had refunded the buyer and the case was closed, the customer left negative feedback virtually immediately . I could have tracked the item and talked to the customer and would have refunded anyway if the item was not delivered. I have sold many things on eBay and am proud of my positive feedback. I find the situation totally unfair. Thanks for listening, just needed to get it off my chest.

While I understand your annoyance ... with my buyer's head on, if I was checking you out and read that negative feedback I would say to myself, "issue handled, what's the problem?"; it would not in any way put me off buying from you.

Is there a time lag between the case being opened and you getting the message?
If not, you need to find out why you did not get the response time set out in the policy.
