AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Ebay is becoming a clone
And a second rate clone at that - to the point where you might as well just use the other place.
If ebay want to survive and prosper they need to be genuinely simple, differentiate themselves by not charging buyers any fees, let sellers have a choice of postage, stop talking to everyone like we're stupid because it shows, etc.
The way things are going ebay will just go down in history as an early internet pioneer who eventually failed like geocities, yahoo, etc

Absolutely true. With seller fees they were transparent and they gave a seller options to list a item they believed was fair to themselves and that would be fair for a buyer. The compulsory SD really is a total farce. It took some sellers quite a while (me included) to find what we believed worked best. And now that's been taken away yet they refuse to say they might have got it wrong.

Thank you to the community on these boards, which I only found out about recently, purely due to this ‘Simple’ Delivery policy being imposed on us all. (I am calling it ‘Stupendous Debacle’).
I will not be spending any money on ebay for the foreseeable future and have paused my listings.
At every opportunity I am letting ebay know how unhappy I am with this latest policy change. Been here since 2001 as a buyer and private seller and this latest change really is one too far.
BBC Radio 4 ‘You and Yours’ programme presented a brief (10 minute) feature on ebay recently:
31 March 2025, starting at 20:04 minutes into the programme
The episode’s title is ‘Price Hike Day, Rhubarbs Revival, Whisky Bandits’ and the ebay snippet is not mentioned in the episode description, so many will have missed it.
I have already contacted them requesting they do another feature on this latest ‘development’ and its impact. Maybe others could do so too.

What I am calling it is unbroadcastable! Like you description a lot though 😁

I am glad you found out about this community through the boards. Many of us on here like yourself have been users for many years. This is my 20th year as a private seller who buys too. Because of these changes I have removed my listings and now buy much less. I do intend to keep a eye open to see what happens.

I haven't cancelled my listings as a protest but because, if I sold something, I would have no idea how to send it. SD is just beyond the ken of a lot of us. I wrote to City AM last week ( a London free finance newspaper) asking them to cover this story. Due to WFH it now only publishes Tuesday to Thursday but I'll check tomorrow's issue to see if they write anything.

Great post. I'm actually enjoying some of the tongue in cheek posts now I've got my sense of humour back as well as the great posts here.

It's great to see the exposure we're getting. Normally I think they expected sellers and buyers to have a moan and then lay down quietly and just except things. But this time it really does seem to have gone much further which is great to see.

The other reasons I'm not selling for the foreseeable future is that I don't agree that SD should have been forced on us, and I don't want to waste my time trying to understand SD fully because things seem to change literally every day.

It's no surprise the amount of posts this subject is getting, I was amazed when it hit the 1000 mark 2000 by the weekend, I should think so 🤞well done everyone 👏

If only there was a box for that 😂

Thank you so much. I really never expected this to take off like it has done and I honestly do apologise to those that have got fed up with how many emails they've received because of this thread.

I was always happy to do my own postage labels and did prefer it, if I messed up then it was my fault but I have had evri in the past who did the labels and put them on the wrong parcels! Result was I go the flack!

Posted my last one today (went to RM website as usual for label) and that is it

I believe it was Oscar Wilde who said "there's only one thing worse than being talked about, that's not being talked about" let's keep it up

Well, I sent 2 items this morning using the
Simple Delivery method I can't see what all the fuss is about personally!

In ebay land they assume everything is super dooper and the sun shines every day, nothing is unattainable and everyone is happy, pigs fly too! They don’t cater for people like yourself, yes they could have set a trend and done things differently, more compactly, easier to get your head round if you are no tech savvy but hey, are we surprised about all this, are we heck!
